Home invasion by wild animals can be a very challenging problem, and those who live in suburban or urban areas know it very well. Usually, when the fall season rolls in, wild animals, like squirrels, skunks, raccoons, opossums, and many more, try to find different ways of entering homes. Unfortunately, homes are the perfect place for them to hide and find shelter. The main reasons are,  they can access food and water easily and they are protected from the elements. If you are the one dealing with such a problem, then you are in the right place to find out what you can do. In this article, we’ll take you through a few tips that can help you to eliminate wild animals from your property. To learn about them, be sure to read this article to the end!

    Cover the trash

You might have some wild guests at your place the night after a pizza party at your home. Wild animals will seek out two things, food and shelter. Usually, they are attracted to a pile of trash outside the home in your trash cans. They can smell the leftovers of your food from miles away, which attract them to your house. If you are finding it difficult to get rid of them, then make sure that you are dumping your garbage and food leftovers in bags and containers that can be properly sealed. It will make it difficult for wild animals to dine on your leftovers. Also find trash cans with tight fitting lids.

    Eliminate openings

The invasion of squirrels, moles, raccoons, and skunks in your home can happen, but they cannot get into your house if they don’t have any access. Your task is to close all the openings that are welcoming them into your place. You might not know this, but there can be a lot of ways, such as vents, screens, open chimneys, floorboards, and other openings along rooflines for animals to get into your home. If you don’t want these animals to invade your home, then make sure that all these openings are fully screened.

Add wire screens on deck or porches

Most of the time, wild animals take a pit stop at decks and porches before even making their way into your home. Wild animals can be very clever. After spending some time near your home, they find ways to gain access into your place. Many people complain about finding raccoons, skunks, squirrels, etc., under a deck or near a porch. Chances are before you even notice the presence of these animals they have already made  a way to invade your home. Therefore, the best way to prevent them from entering your deck or porch is by adding a durable wire screen around it.

    Clean up the yard

Keep your yard clean from leaf piles, brush, or other debris, as these materials are likely to provide shelter or place to hide for small animals. Regular cleaning of the yard can make sure that there are no such materials that can house wild animals. However, usually in winter, people have firewood stored in their yard, which can be a great place for small animals to hide. If you are storing firewood in your yard, then be sure to store them at least 20 feet from home.

    Hire the professionals

Sometimes, the problem of animal invasion becomes so bad that it can be difficult to get rid of them. No matter what you do, everything goes is in vain. If you have done every possible thing to keep animals away from your home and still they pay regular visits, then it is about time that you call professionals to handle them. Experts know how to remove them by implementing different methods safely.

WE SAID THIS: If you are dealing with a major animal problem, then calling and hiring professionals comes highly recommended.
