#WaraElCeema: We Talk to Egyptian Actress Reem Samy After the Success of Her Latest Role in ‘El Brens’

In this edition of #WaraElCeema, we had an exclusive talk with rising star, Reem Samy, after her huge success this Ramadan! Reem played the role of Mohamed Ramadan’s sister in the hit TV series, “El Brens”, a complex character called Noura. Reem totally aced the role and garnered the attention of the millions who watched the successful series across the Arab World.

Reem also played opposite the Iconic Ahmed El Sakka in the 2019 Ramadan series “Weld El Ghalaba” and there is still so much that the talented young actress has to offer. Follow our hashtag #WaraElCeema for more exclusives from the industry!

How did you get into acting?

I’ve always been curious to get into acting, but never knew if it was the thing for me. I took a serious step about three years ago when I started the acting workshop of Marwa Gebril, and I really liked it. I then went to cast for an audition of a series directed by Manal El Seify called Lel Hob Forsa Akheera. I got the role, and things started from there.

How did you get ready for your role in “El Brens”?

We had the entire 30 episodes ready for a long period of time, this made it easier for me to get ready, read and study the character, get references and write down Noura’s history. When I talked with Mohamed about the character, he told me that she’s a simple, quiet, and hardworking character. I had to work on how quiet she is as that’s entirely different from me. But I really liked the character and how successful and independent she was.

Talk to us about the feedback that you received.

The feedback was great, and I noticed it more whenever I’m in the streets. As I see people who come talk to me about Noura and praise the character. They like how she’s decent and polite, yet successful and independent. Overall, the series was very successful and people loved it, so I’m really happy and lucky to be part of this project, and work with that team.

Who did you learn from the most in your acting career? And tell us one piece of advice.

By all means, it’s my brother, Director Mohamed Samy, who has taught me so much in my acting career. I remember when I first starting acting that he told me that the most important thing is to talk normally, the way I talk in real life, even if the characters are different, but I still need not to fake how I talk.

What role would you like to portray in the future?

I would love to do a character in the 60s or the 70s! But the genre I want to explore the most is action. I really love female characters in action movies, and I think I’ll be really happy to portray one. We don’t have much of that in the Middle East, but I cannot forget roles like Mona Zaky in Mafia, and how unique it was. I really love kickboxing and martial arts, and I’d love to get them to use in one of my future roles.

WE SAID THIS: We can’t wait to see Reem killing it in future roles!
