The fourth edition of the IMMAF Championships at Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Arena came to a close on Saturday, August 5 with the UAE national team making history by claiming a record of 12 medals. This marked a significant improvement from last year’s performance, where they secured only four medals.
The Emirati athletes showcased their skills and determination throughout the championships, earning four gold, four silver, and four bronze medals.
The competition in the Youth category, which featured athletes aged 16 to 17 years old, took place on the final day of the four-day event. Ukraine emerged as the overall winner, followed by the United States in second place and Tajikistan in third.
Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al-Dhaheri, a board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and chairman of the federation’s mixed martial arts committee, expressed his pride in both the success of the championship and the performance of the national team.
“The remarkable organization and resounding success of the championship, which we proudly hosted for the second consecutive year, can be attributed to the unwavering support from UAE’s visionary leadership and their continuous guidance for the country’s sports and athletes,” said Al-Dhaheri.
Al-Dhaheri also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the national team for their outstanding performance. He emphasized that their historic achievement of securing 12 medals is proof of their hard work, dedication, and talent. He expressed his hope that this success will serve as a stepping stone for even greater achievements in the upcoming edition of the World Mixed Martial Arts Championship, which will be hosted by Abu Dhabi next year.
