It has become a rare commodity to read about different acts of kindness in our ever-so materialistic world. However, one Arab country is here to set the course.
On Monday, a statement by The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) revealed that the GCC country is planning to distribute humanitarian aid; such as food and medicine, to 15 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East during Ramadan.
The spokesperson of the KRCS has stated that it is estimated that this year’s Ramadan distribution is going to benefit 100,000 people. The Gulf nation is working on providing humanitarian relief to the countries’ plagued with humanitarian crises.
“The food would be distributed to people in countries including Mauritania, Uganda, Kenya, Palestine, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, and Iraq, as well as Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon,” the statement read according to Xinhuanet.
One nation that Kuwait is most concerned about is Yemen; the country has been in turmoil for years now. In response, Director-General of KCRS Abdulrahman Al-Oun said that Kuwait’s latest initiative will provide aid to more than 7,000 displaced individuals.
At the same time, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Malaysia Saad Al-Asousi organized a Ramadan iftar initiative for Muslims in Asian countries. In addition, the campaign is funded by a number of Kuwaiti philanthropists, who have provided up to 11,00 meals so far.
Mohammad Al-Failakawi, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Ghana, did not stand idle as he too has contributed on behalf of his country to support the growing African nation. The diplomat handed over a USD 117,103 check to the organization of education and development in Ghana.
While Kuwait’s Consulate in Iraq Dr. Omar Al-Kandary has organized an iftar of his own for more than 6,000 individuals for about 10 days.
According to Khaleej Times, Kuwait’s Consulate oversaw the distribution of food and supplies presented by Kuwait-based International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) to 17,300 people in camps for the Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) west of Irbil.
