Eat: The Cookery Co Is Changing the Catering Scene in Egypt as We Know It

One of the reasons that we first fell in-love with cooking was that food is the universal love language. No matter who you are, you need food to live. It trascends cultures and language barriers: everyone, anywhere, eats. And everyone loves delicious-tasting food, so we all flock to it. Sadly, not everyone has the gift of cooking, which is why it makes our bellies smile when we found out about The Cookery Co.

What’s that, you say? It’s an Egyptian boutique catering company that was founded by three girls for the love of food. Having grown up with a passion for food (which we all had but never really done anything with), compounded by their travels and studies abroad, where they ensured to taste and delight in all sorts of delicacies, Noury, Soupy and Amina bring this worldly culinary influence together with an Egyptian heritage, home cooked feel and techniques learnt at Le Cordon Bleu, the world’s largest and most renowned hospitality education institution.

“The friendship of one gourmand plus two Cordon Blue chefs was the perfect combination for a project like this,” Amina tells us what inspired The Cookery Co. “We wanted to feed people good food and make sure it’s consistent,” they all explain. But how do the cooking trio do so? They source only the best ingredients and create their own sauces, making the classics modern and doing what they love most: feeding people.

“Our office in Cairo is based in Giza but we cater anywhere in the capital depending on the customer’s request. Not only that, we’re in Sahel this summer at the Diplomat’s Village and cater to the resorts around us,” Amina tells us where Egyptians are allowed to feast on their deliciousness. She also teases us with the news that The Cookery Co might be opening up a restaurant in the city as well, “like all chefs, there is always something new cooking in our kitchen. You’ll have to wait and see.”

Before we parted with them, we had to ask them what their favorite part of cooking for The Cookery Co. “I find it really relaxing to make fresh, handmade pasta. And it tastes so much better than store bought pasta,” Soupy tells us. Noury on the hand enjoys making sauces and pouring it over other ingredients to perfect the garnish.

WE SAID THIS: Is it just us or are you hungry as well? Brb while we get our favorite three ladies to cook for us.
