    The Who’s, What’s & Why’s About Cairo Gossip!

    1. Who & What is Cairo Gossip, if you had to describe yourself in a few words?

Actually this is a very hard question. It might seem easy but it is not. Who is Cairogossip, well we are a group of ‘animals’ that each acquire two persona’s. One is the real one, and the other is the one we have created. Our real persona which people don’t see is that, we are people who love coffee bean, going to the movies, bowling, playing billiards and just regular clean fun. Our fakes persona’s on the other hand is a projection in my opinion of the scene and how it effects us. The ‘fake’ persona is on that is PARTY LOVING, ALCOHOLIC CRAZED, PEOPLE LOVING one (fishie which I have mostly been known for, actually does not like people! Fact!) ..

    2. You seem to like the animal Kingdom a lot, with you and all your spies represented by a certain animal or fish, WHY?

Well the first animal name Fishie, came along as a coincidence actually. Someone on chat asked me once what they should call me I responded with Fishie, representing a ‘fishy person’ or a suspicious person. The irony in all this is that I genuinely hate fish!

Then i liked the idea of using animal analogy, a bit inspired by animal farm and also it is the reality of the scene being the fact that we are animals, we are not normal human beings, another FACT! We go out non stop, we drink non stop, we party non stop and we have no limits. We are truly animals, not just the Cairogossip team but the whole scene as a whole.

    3. What made you get into the “gossip” field?

To be honest I was bored. 3 years ago I read a book by Amy Mowafi of fe-mail, also back then there was a blog called Scene & Heard, so i guess the two of those just were combined inspiration to start a Facebook profile to break the monopoly that Scene & Heard had on the gossiping field.. And again I repeat i was bored. I had no idea that this thing small thing I started 3 and a half years ago would become this big…

    4. Do people know who you are? And if so was that ever the intention?

Yes friends do, I think i eventually just outed myself to the wrong person and it just spread like wild fire, but like I say out of the 3,000 on my friend list only 500 know. I never intended for people to find out, it was my biggest mistake.

    5. What are your future plans? We noticed all the website upgrades, etc..and new members joining your team.

OH YES FUTUREEEEE !! Well we are trying to expand the CG platform while keeping it focused. Here is whats happening.

1 – Expanding the platform to include more music, hence www.cairogossip.com/tunes … We love music and its just a natural progressions,

2- Adding new functions such as the calendar www.cairogossip.com/calendar which is an easy way for people to check out what are the events recommended & filtered by CG

3 – New sections, such as essentials ( http://cairogossip.com/category/essentials/ ) , every week we pick a new person and his essentials to feature. It is usually cast as someone who we see as influential or has been under the spot light, this idea is just one of duckie’s new ideas

4- Growing the team; the city is growing, there are more events to cover, there is more stuff to talk about, hence why our team needs to grow, we now have Froggie as our resident camera animal, Piggie our outgoing girl, Duckie as our all rounded smart boy next door type of guy who enjoys not going out and partying.

The plan is that some time in the near future Fishie will retire, well maybe..  Enjoying tea at home while the rest of the gang takes care of business.

    6. We noticed some of your posts and facebook status’s have become very political, is this a new side to CG?

CG is a projection of the scene, and the scene has taken a political turn and so has CairoGossip. But that bullshit aside because it is bullshit, we can’t live in a bubble and continue on working on our things, or partying as if the country around us isn’t falling, because eventually we will fall with it. So each should do his part, the only thing I can do and although in my point of view is minor, is help spread awareness, join protests & motivate people from the scene to move. After all what’s the point of having a platform if it can’t be used for some good.

    7. Most important question of all, if you could be any fish in the sea what would you be?

i am bipolar, sometime piranha and sometimes a gold fish, sometimes shark sometimes a dolphin, i am crazy !!
