    The Man Behind Qima

You have probably seen one of their videos or heard about them somewhere. Qima Production House introduces something truly amazing, a value based media. They will always find a way to make you laugh but still motivate you. I sat down with the young aspiring producer Ibrahim Nasha’at, who is such a multi-talented guy and technically the brain behind Qima production house. We talked about how it all started, and he gave us the SCOOP on all what’s new with Qima Production House.

    1. Firstly, what is Qima production House? I mean who are you guys and how did you start?

We started two years ago with a team of three people: AbduAllah Al Masry the technical manager, Mostafa Kamar the general manager and me the unit production manager; however, Abduallah left and now it is just me and Mostafa. I was already working in this field as I was a freelance producer and had been working with other companies like Axeer studios. So I proposed the idea to Abduallah, and he just loved it, so we told Mostafa and immediately he agreed to join us. Mostafa kamar was the founder of Campaigners Egypt (our partner in our first campaign), and I was the president of it, so we prepared well and decided to just kick off with something as big as” Akhlaq Mansaya”.

    2. Talking about “Akhlaq Mansaya” which was a great success. Can you tell us more about this campaign?

Our launch video featured great stars including Sayed Abd Hafeez and Ahmed Fathy, and thankfully it was well received. On the 2nd video nifaq again, we got to work with great people such as the well-known actors: Chico, Fahmy and Hesham, Dardeer and captain Sherif Abd Fadeel, we worked really hard on this video especially on the communication side and with the help of one of the best producers Mr. Nabil Sobhy we got to film it in “Studio Masr”. Also,we got to work with Muhammed Gabr(who was the sound engineer for “Banat Al 3am”  “S3ah w noos”  movies). We worked together again on the 3rd video in this campaign “Kazem Al Gheez”, the video was directed by Ahmed Amro (the man who directed “Regal la t3arf Mostaheel”), but the timing was off; we aired the video 5 days before the Ahly and Portsaid match.

3 .The official Ahly Club ad, for the sad events in Portsaid”MafishAkhlaq” video, is by far one of your greatest work. Why did you decide to work on it?

After those sad events, we felt that it was our duty to say how sad we were because of those events; therefore, we produced the Ahly Club Martyrs’ families’ donation number ad. The video featured Ahmad fathy, Ahmed adel Abd Menam and captain Akramii, Senior .This video was a great success mainly because of its timing and the way it presented the issue. The video became the official ad by the Ahly club and it was aired on many TV channels including: ONtv, Ahly Sports channel, CBC and Modern sports.

    4. What were the major obstacles you faced at the beginning?

Well, mainly the lack of experience, we were all just starting out; we didn’t know much about entrepreneurship, so we faced some troubles; for instance, we didn’t know how much equipment would cost. However, we were too passionate about the whole thing so we kept learning, and honestly I believe that those obstacles pushed us to keep going and challenged us to learn more and more.  Personally, I really think if I can get back in time and produce “Akhlaq Mansaya” campaign all over again, I will make it a lot better.

    5. So there are a lot of YouTube channels out there, tell us what makes Qima Production House special?

The value we offer makes us special, not only a value based media, but we present value throughout everything we do. Even when we produce ads/commercials, we insist that they must have a valuable message behind them.

    6. Will you guys just settle for more videos on YouTube or do you have other plans?

Actually, we started working on commercials/ads and we are working on different stuff because we want to prove that we aren’t going to stay on YouTube forever. Plus, we are working on increasing our resources so that we can produce a movie too. Besides, we are planning on having a real Qima Production House someday, a whole building that includes commercials producing, documentary movies producing… etc.

    7. How much do you think social media has benefited your work?

     100 percent!

    8. You directed and produced Qima’s newest series “Meryat Sh3ab”. What is “Meryat sh3ab “all about?

“Merayat shaab” is more like a campaign rather than a series. We want to tell people about the Islamic culture, and how it supports the revolution demands, but the thing is Islamic culture isn’t applied in our society even though it is applicable; therefore, we want to re-introduce the Islamic culture to the people .Our upcoming episode will be about Freedom and how islam supports freedom within an outline; “Absolute Freedom leads to the loss of Freedom”

    9. You produced the new hit “MeenFeena“Music video. Can you tell us about the UN volunteers program and how did you work with them?

Well, the UNV heard about me through Qima production House, and I got to produce the music video “Meen Feena” (Hani was responsible for the audio producing), and thankfully the UN loved my work, so they will be supporting Qima’s latest campaign “3afer” .3afer will be launched soon, but we are going a bit slow because we are all too busy will other commitments, and we are planning not to launch anything unless we are totally sure that we have enough time for it.

    10. Since you appeared on a couple of videos in your first campaign “Akhlaq Mansaya”, shall we expect more acting from you?

No way! Hahahaha. It was always because of some coincidence: the first time, we didn’t know who will take the role, and I really did fit in the character, so i said why not. The other time, the actor didn’t show up, so I filled his place. But, No I won’t become an actor.

    11. What are your upcoming plans?

Now, we are working on our latest campaign “3afer”, and we are producing some commercials/ads. Meanwhile, we are partnering and covering the UN’s latest event “International Volunteers Day”. Hopefully, after graduation I will be more focused on this career, partially with Qima House and also working as a freelance producer.
