The First Impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Last week, Samsung Egypt unveiled the new line of Galaxy phones, the Galaxy S6 & the Galaxy S6 Edge at the historical Mohamed Aly Palace! I attended the event, enjoyed it and more importantly played a little with the new phones!
Until my full review comes out, here’s my first impressions on the new babies!

    Looks and Feel

Hardware Design: The Plastic era is over!

The first thing you will notice holding the new Galaxy phones is definitely going to be the new phone’s design. It’s completely different than any Samsung phone you’ve seen before. This is a uni-body device made of smooth glass-and-matte-metal, it looks great! With this being said, it is important to make sure your phone is protected at all time. Phone cases aren’t there for no reason and it is as simple as doing a quick google search into something like iPhone&Samsung Personalisierte Handyhülle to hopefully find the right one for you. When getting a new phone, it is best to be safe than sorry.

    More colors

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come in 5 colors. Both lines come in platinum gold, sapphire black and white pearl, mostly like the standard colors in most phones. Or you can spice things a little up with topaz blue for the Galaxy S6 or the emerald green for the Galaxy S6 Edge – which I personally like a lot.

    Chic cover

Samsung seriously stepped up its game in cover designs. There are many new covers with different options, looks and budget. Personally, I’m really excited about the new Clear View Covers.

    Software Design

It’s still the same user interface you’ve been using on your Samsung device, but much better! Samsung has simplified it a bit and toned down a lot of clutter making the new UI a step forward.

    In-hand feel

The new phones feel great in your hand! You might need a cover to have an easier grip on the devices since they are now made of metal and glass. The S6 Edge feels much slimmer than the S6, although both phones are very light and enjoyable to hold.

    Display

    display
Samsung has backed the new displays with pixels! The resolution of the new AMOLED displays are 2,560×1,440 pixels, a density of 577 pixels per inch (ppi), which is currently the best on any phone. This display is insanely beautiful; it’s clear and crisp and you won’t be able to take your eyes off it.

    Camera

    Real-time-HDR-for-both-the-front-and-the-rear-cameras
It’s a 16-megapixel camera that pops out from the phone’s back and has the same resolution as the Galaxy Note 4. The S6 and S6 Edge now include optical image stabilization, which should help you with shaky shots. Samsung also has a new auto-HDR (high dynamic range). Long story short, this camera is really good and you can depend on it for some good quality pictures!
Samsung has made it super easy to open the camera application if you want to shoot something on the spot. All you have to do is to double press the home button on your phone!
The Front camera is a 5-megapixel camera for wide-angle selfies. You can shoot a selfie by tapping the sensor on the back of the phone…

    Wrap-Up

Samsung is really into something big with these phones. Samsung has seriously stepped up its design game and I’m in love with how the new phones look, especially the S6 Edge! These phones will perform great and the glass and metal design will make them more durable than any other phone. These elements are very attractive to customers and will make these phone hard to compete with!
