Upon the execution of the four-day truce between Israel and Gaza, the Palestinian resistance group released 40 of the captives. Among these were an Israeli mother and her daughter Danielle Aloni and Emilia on November 24, after being held hostage for 49 days in Gaza. On November 27, Hamas published a letter of heartfelt gratitude by Danielle.
“To the generals who accompanied me for the past few weeks, it seems that we will part ways tomorrow,” the letter starts. “I will remember your kind behavior shown in spite of the difficult situation you faced.”
The letter was originally hand-written in Hebrew and accompanied by an Arabic translation, along with a photograph of the mother and her daughter.
She further stated her daughter got along with Hamas members who were her caregivers, adding that she also felt “like a queen.”

Aloni ended her letter with compassion for Hamas, stating: “I will remember your kind behavior shown in spite of the difficult situation you faced and the severe losses you suffered here in Gaza. I wish in this world we could truly be good friends,” she wrote and added her well wishes to Gazans “I wish you all health and well-being… health and love to you and your families’ children.”
