When thinking that the atrocities taking place in Palestine are already severely inhumane to the point that things could not get worse, then you can think again. Beyond the borders of the strip is a world much more ravenous. All the way in Texas, an unspeakable act took place by a Texan woman.
Who Is She?
Her name is Elizabeth Wolf, a 42-year-old Texan woman who was accused of drowning a random Palestinian girl in an apartment complex pool in Texas. At the time of the crime, she was drunk and started spewing racist remarks before trying to drown the three-year-old.
It all happened so fast. After approaching the mother of the children and asking about her nationality, upon discovering that she was Palestinian, she jumped into the pool where the girl and her brother were swimming and attempted to grab both of them. The brother broke free, but the girl did not.
Wolf pulled the girl into the deep end and started pushing her underwater. Luckily, the girl’s mother and someone else at the pool jumped in and saved the girl’s life.
What Happened To Wolf?
Following the heinous crimes, Wolf ended up getting arrested and hit with a slew of charges, including attempted capital murder. The cases were accepted by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. But the unexpected twist is that now, she is out on bail, walking free in society.
According to an Instagram user by the name of Guy Christensen, she had her $40,000 bail bond paid to get her out.
The events did not stop there. The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas) and state lawmakers held a news conference on Saturday, calling on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident as a hate crime.
This particular attack came amidst a rise in anti-Islamic hate; according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the number of complaints of anti-Islamic discrimination they received in the last three months of 2023 doubled since the year before.
The overall hope is that this gets recognized as a hate crime and that prosecutors need to send a message that alleged attacks like this one should not go unpunished.
