    The Smiths + The Cranberries = D.A.R.K.

D.A.R.K. is made up of The Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, The Cranberries vocalist Dolores O’Riordan and DJ Olé Koretsky. Their debut album Science Agrees comes out in May and they’ve already released the first song “Curvy”, which is a bit lighter on O’Riordan vocals than I’d hoped, but still pretty solid:

Alice in Chains + Mastodon + Mars Volta = Giraffe Tongue Orchestra

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra brings together Alice in Chains singer William DuVall, Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, along with Dethklok bassist Pete Griffin and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman. Juliette Lewis also contributes vocals to their upcoming album, but we don’t yet have a release date.

    Neko Case + k.d. lang + Laura Veirs = case/lang/veirs

This is more of a collaborative album than a supergroup, but this first single is great:

Slipknot + Touché Amoré + Trap Them + The Hope Conspiracy = Hesitation Wounds

Hesitation Wounds, made up of Touché Amoré singer Jeremy Bolm, The Hope Conspiracy guitarist Neeraj Kane, Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg and Trap Them bassist Stephen LaCour, have been around since 2012 and are planning on releasing their second album Awake for Everything this May. The album features singles “Teeth” and “New Abuse”:

    Steve Aoki + Blink 182 + 5SOS = ?

Earlier this month Steve Aoki posted photos from the studio with Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, and 5 Seconds of Summer drummer Calum Hood. We don’t yet know what they’re working on, but I’m already interested.

    fd3f7246-4f8f-4936-b4b5-20ccdbf19dcd

Slowdive + Editors + Mogwai = Minor Victories

Minor Victories brings together Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Editors’ Justin Lockey, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite and Hand Held Cine Club’s James Lockey. Their self-titled debut album is expected in June, and the first single is a promising strings-heavy track with a mesmerizing video:

    Skrillex + Diplo = Jack Ü

Jack Ü are most known for last year’s banger “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber. Their latest single “Mind” features Canadian singer Kai:

    Boyzone + Westlife = Boyzlife

Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden have announced that they are joining forces for a new group that may include other members of their respective former boy bands. The pair is set to go on a 12-date tour to perform songs by both bands.

The Blood Brothers + Yeah Yeah Yeahs + The Locust = Head Wound City

Head Wound City have been around for about ten years, but their only release has been a 10-minute EP in 2005. The band is made up of The Blood Brothers’ Jordan Blilie and Cody Votolato, The Locust’s Gabe Serbian and Justin Pearson, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner. Their upcoming album A New Wave of Violence comes out in May.
