With 20.5 million followers, the power to rake in $18,000 per post, and a cosmetics empire that has proven to be one of the most sought-after brands, it’s easy to see why she reached where she is. 1. What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger
At first, Kattan used to work in the finance field as a recruiter before breaking through the beauty world, but got laid off from her job. Her boss told her that she didn’t belong in his company. At first, she was devastated as she worked her ass off, but later on, she realized he was right. Not long afterward, Kattan decided to move to LA and study makeup, a longtime passion of hers.
2. You reap what you sow
Kattan worked for free for friends A LOT before getting a real paid campaign. She worked on photo shoots during the day, attended events at night, and blogged afterwards. She joined Instagram in May 2012 and gained massive amounts of followers every time she posted a video or a beauty post.

Despite her international beauty empire, when you ask her what title you give yourself, she’ll humbly say “beauty blogger.” She says that this is how she started and feels like this can inspire others and give them hope to start out the same way she started.

She doesn’t only regram genius hacks from other beauty bloggers, but also comes up with her own brilliant ideas as well, such as the tape contouring or the lube primer. And it actually works!

Kattan always takes the high way for her followers. She would even try the grossest beauty treatments, and by that I don’t mean lip injections or face shaving, nope. I mean placenta facials! Nothing stops in her way to give her best for her fans.
