In this day and age, events and DJs are abundant, but a very few bunch actually stand out from the masses. This can be said especially when those DJs produce their own music and throw events with some of the world’s hottest up and coming talents.

Two of those DJs happen to be Carlos and Vega and they have one hell of a plan for this coming year:

    1. Who are Carlos and Vega? Tell us a little bit about your background and how you broke into the music scene.

We are Egyptian electronic music producers and DJs, and we decided to come together to combine our experience and skill so we can create some amazing productions and live shows.

Between the both of us, we certainly know how to get a crowd going, not to mention our unique style of production in different genres of house music. This allows us to take people on a journey that covers everything from deep house and nu disco to tech and progressive all in the same set.

    2. How do you feel about the Egyptian music scene and its upcoming artists?

The whole music scene in Egypt is developing with the rise of lot of talented bands, artists and electronic producers and DJs. We still have a long way to go, but we’ll get there as long as musicians keep growing and people show appreciation for the quality of music being produced.

    3. Who’s the one artist or DJ you would like to collaborate with?

Sasha, he’s always been a great inspiration to us over the years.

    4. You have a record label, tell us a little bit about it? How do you feel it’ll change the music market?

Civilization Records was created during a very critical time in our careers. After signing a deal with another label to release our first album that we’ve been working on for years, the label suddenly decided to pull out. But instead of giving up, we chose to look at the positive side.

carlosvega3We already had a finished album and every intention of creating more music, so why not create our own record label? This way we can release our music independently, support the sounds we love, and release music for other talented artists as well.

We picked the name Civilization as it includes our initials and represents our admiration for history. We went on to register our new label online with the help of Mr. Walid Ragaay and establish it physically with the help of Mr. Mohamed El Azhary to get our first album released.

Now you can buy Carlos & Vega C|VLIZATION on Beatport, iTunes and at Virgin megastores. We also have our second release coming out this week C|VLIZATION Remixed, a remix pack for the album including remixes from some of the best Egyptian producers on the scene.

We’re always on the lookout for serious, new talents so we can continue delivering this quality of sound. That’s what we’re hoping to do with some up-and-coming music producers that we feel can really define the sound of our civilization.

    5. You’re starting to throw your own events, why? And tell us about who you’re planning on bringing.

Yes, CIVILIZATION Live Events will be kicking off this January with THE BIG CAT himself, Suara label boss COYU on the 22nd at Omar El Khayam Boat in Zamalek. And we’re planning on booking the same high caliber names throughout the year.

The way we see it, live events are a big part of the music scene as it provides direct interaction with our fans. We want to bring them the biggest names in the industry from around the world to perform in our beloved city alongside our newly signed talents.

WE SAID THIS: Want to see Coyo play live? Here are the details.

Some call her a workaholic, others call her driven, she calls herself a hustler. Some find her outgoing, others standoffish, she's just a confused intro/extrovert. Spanning over 10 years in the event and marketing industry, Sherry began her career in Egypt's burgeoning Sports Marketing industry, to quickly be recruited by the Middle East's largest Film Studio Rotana Studios to spearhead and manage their Marketing Department, before starting her own company Nineteen84 Luxury & Entertainment Management. Along the way she built some of Egypt's most successful websites, leading up until Scoop Empire, a compilation of her and her 2 partners (best friends) brain child!
