In the hair and beauty industry, like many other industries, there are many ambitious people who start their careers from scratch and end up becoming legendary icons in the field and are sometimes even treated like stars. Mohamed Al Sagheer was one of these icons. After famed Egyptian beautician and hairstylist Mohamed Al Sagheer passed away yesterday due to COVID-19, we take a look at his inspiring career.
In 1960, Al Sagheer began his work in the hair and beauty industry. A few years later, he travelled to France to better his skills under the mentorship of the French Alexandre de Paris, and become an established hairstylist. Two years after his return to Egypt, he established Egypt’s first, and now leading, haute coiffeur in Sheraton Heliopolis, in Cairo. Through this salon, he decided to challenge the traditional perception of people towards hairdressers and hair salons in the country at that time. Since then, Mohamed Al Sagheer salons became a become a flagship entity in the industry, with nearly 27 salons across Egypt, expanding to include spas, boutiques, and nail lounges.

Al Sagheer was a true example of a hardworking entrepreneur who took his passion and made a name out of it. He was one of the best hair experts in the entire region with a clientele list that included Sophia Loren, Faten Hamama, among many other prominent names.
Al Sagheer was a member of the “Haute Coiffure Francaise” and “Inter-Coiffure Mondiale”, and was recognised as one of the “Top 50” hairstylists in the world.
