Time is everything. Relationships prosper as years go and if anything, people’s character constantly surprises us as they age. While time is a beautiful, mysterious thing, it can often be seen as a deadline, particularly in the Middle East where in order to achieve something you have to do it within a certain time frame and by a particular age. However, there are many cases of people who have broken that stigma and have only gotten better with age; proving that age is just a number and that it’s never too late to go after a dream. From business developers to swimmers who have broken records, these oldies but goodies are stealing our hearts with their latest achievements.

    Ahmed Bek Hamada

Professional Egyptian swimmer, Ahmed Bek Hamada, has been breaking records left and right. The athlete who is in his eighties has recently broken a major record at the Egyptian Masters National Championship. Preceding this, in 2020, Hamada has won best swimmer in addition to five medals in a Cairo competition. Not letting age stop him, Hamada is a force to be reckoned with. A continuous inspiration for swimmers or anyone striving to achieve a goal.

    Naguib Sawiris

The man that needs no introduction and with too many achievements to keep track of, is an Egyptian businessman, Naguib Sawiris who is the former chairman and CEO of Orascom Telecom Holding. While Sawiris is mainly known for his incredible business developments, he surprised us all when it was announced that he will be making his DJ debut at a nightclub. The man of many talents has proved that it is never too late to chase a dream, no matter how different it may be from your career. You go, Bibo!

    Sherihan

Egyptian icon, Sherihan, known for musicals and playful characters has made her comeback almost two decades following a departure from the limelight. Sherihan has surprised us last year with her musical ad for a telecom company where she seemed as beautiful and effervescent as ever; the ad was much deeper than that, it chronicles her journey as a star, from the struggles to the highlights. Sherihan then went on to star in a Middle Eastern streaming platform’s “Coco Chanel” a musical that proved even more that it is never too late to come back to your dream; no matter how much time passes.

    Fatma Amr

Egyptian weightlifter, Fatma Amr, has broken major records as not only a weightlifter but a woman in her late forties. She has inspired many, as she was born with poliomyelitis (disabling disease) but has overcome the odds. By not only living a healthy life but an athletic one that many would dream of. Going after her goal, year after year even when hindrances came in the way until she was able to achieve her big dream which was to participate in the Olympics. Amr is an endless source of inspiration for anyone to push through until they achieve their dream; no matter what, it’s never too late.
