Nelly Karim Gets Slut-Shamed for Wearing a Bikini

On Saturday, August 12th, 2017, Egyptian starlet and former ballerina, Nelly Karim, posted a photo on her Instagram account.

The photo shows the beautiful actress on a beach, wearing a bikini. Despite the very raw, real, natural, and non-provocative way in which Karim was presenting herself in the photo, social media users still had a lot to say about it.

The comment section wars began when some users started to slut-shame Karim for wearing a bikini, and/or for posting a picture in which she was wearing one.

Via: Instagram. The comment reads, “Why, Nelly, Why!!!!!”

Via: Instagram. The comment reads, “Your picture is ugly, and it is hurtful to people’s general taste.”

Via: Instagram. The comment reads, “I did not know you were that kind of girl.”

Via: Instagram. The comment reads “A well-known actress like yourself – who is well-respected by a lot of people, due to the roles she chooses to play – ought not post a picture like this. No one expected this from you. I am going to ignore those who claim that you did nothing wrong, and say that you did because what is right is right and what is just wrong.”

Via: Instagram. The comment reads, “You are not the Nelly I know, no it is definitely not you. You deserve what Ahmed Fahmy did to you in your last televised series.”

Some of her fans/followers, however, took it upon themselves to defend the starlet, by posting complimentary message, and by defending the actress’ personal freedom.

Karim has posted a picture of herself wearing swimsuits before; last October she posted pictures from what looked like a photo shoot in Egypt’s Ras Sudr, where she was clearly wearing a swimsuit. It seems, however, that what caused the immediate backlash this time was the fact that Karim was showing her entire body in Saturday’s post.

    #nellykarim #actress #egyptiandrama #sea # last days of September @batoolaldaawi thank you my dear ?

All that being said – even if Karim were deliberately being sexy and seductive, whilst wearing that bikini – it is her own personal choice to wear that swimsuit, to pose in the manner that she pleases, and to post a picture of herself while wearing it. Why does everyone think they are allowed to have an opinion about something as personal as what a woman chooses to wear, to reveal, and/or hide?

WE SAID THIS: Nelly Karim, aside from the fact that you have made us totally jealous with that rocking body of yours, we totally support you girl!
