There must be a secret behind everyone’s obsession with Grand Hotel’s Nazly besides Amina Khalil’s beauty and phenomenal acting. Well, it’s very simple. Nazly is just pure simplicity, which is why she instantly became everyone’s life and beauty goals.
I believe everyone is pure Nazly from the inside, yet we tend to complicate life. Nazly loves everyone around her, despite her social class. Her eyes tend to see the beauty of everything, and neglect the bad side. Simple with style. A lady like Nazly could have all the colors of makeup shades on her face, all weird so-called “fashion trends” and sophistication, but no, she chose to be simple.
She stood for ethics and morals before anything else. She stood up for what’s right. Money will always come last to her. She’s also nonjudgmental. Everyone is a human being who deserves a shot at life, and Nazly knows that. We are all equals, whether you’re from the working class or a lady. The servants that served her turned out to be her brother and mother in-law. Despite her ignorance of such a fact, she treated them equally as she treated her family.
And when it came to love. She only cares of having someone that’ll make her feel safe. She had a handsome millionaire who managed the hotel, who bought her the most expensive jewelry, but she chose a waiter over him instead. She chose a man who made her laugh when she felt down and safe when she was lost.
These are things we all want in life. Love, beauty, happiness. Just like Nazly. We think money buys happiness. We create social classes between us and tell ourselves that we are better than people who earn a lesser income than us. We believe having a lover of a high social class, education is what’s important. But in the process, we forgot ourselves. We forgot how simple life is.
We look back to the 50s and 60s, stare at the photographs and think “wow, I wish I lived during that era.” Well I assure you the only difference between us and them was living by simplicity. Finding happiness in beauty, not in societal image and money and other values.
