Alright, we’ve hit halftime in Ramadan! Some shows ran a sprint for 15 days, others stretched to 16, and the rest went the marathon route for the full 30 days. Yep, we’re talking about the 2024 Ramadan series!
Now that we’re in the middle of it all, some of these series have wrapped up – the ones on the 15-episode or 16-episode schedule have reached their last episode, and it’s time to dish out the scores!
Grab your Katayef, and let’s critique these shows: were they a hit or a miss?
Lahzet Ghadab: Hit
Similar to Netflix’s “You,” Lahzet Ghadab tells the story of its villain, the twisted Yomna, who cunningly sees herself as a victim, justifying her actions. The storyline was a bit insane, and the star-studded cast added an extra layer of brilliance to the entire narrative.
Saba Mubarak flawlessly embodied the complex character of Yomna, portraying her emotions with precision and intensity.
And let’s not forget Nardine Farag, who played Nayera, Yomna’s loyal friend, who made murder seem like a walk in the park. One of our favorite duos this Ramadan!
Mohammed Shahin also brought that Sherlock-esque charm to the show, adding a bit of wit to the storyline.
But when it comes to the ending, we can’t help but feel a bit let down. Perhaps they were trying to hammer home the point that Yomna is truly a psycho? It was a wild ride, though.
Ne’ma El Avocato: Miss
In Mai Omar’s Ne’ma El Avocato, we were intrigued by the first episodes of Ne’ma’s story– lending 8 million to her husband – such a juicy setup complemented by Omar’s strong performance.
But somewhere around episode 6 or 7, things took a boring turn. Suddenly, we’re scratching our heads at the logic in the storyline, and it just kept going downhill from there.
And don’t even get us started on that ending – it was so funny it was hard to keep a straight face!
The series was also drowning in melodrama—tear-soaked scenes left, right, and center. We didn’t like the amount of pointless dialogue, either.
A’la Nesbet Moshahda: Hit
Let’s talk about a real hit! This series didn’t just entertain; it shone a spotlight on a trendy topic: the dangers of letting social media ruin our lives.
And can we take a moment to applaud Salma Abu Deif? She blew us away with her performance, proving she can handle leading roles with ease.
While the ending did tie up some loose ends nicely, we felt like the tragedy was too much. It’s like they were trying too hard to drive home a moral lesson, especially in the court scene in the final episode – it wasn’t that gripping as a climax.
Masar Egbari: Hit
Masar Egbari wove a beautiful melody of brotherhood, uniting two siblings by fate and keeping them side by side till the very end. It’s the kind of story that restores your faith in humanity.
We also liked the double twist at the end, which was a typical good vs. evil ending; the good wins the case.
Selat Rahem: Hit
It’s both the crown jewel and underdog of series and endings. You’ll be left speechless as the final credits roll, leaving you with more questions than answers.
But let’s talk performances. The cast didn’t just deliver. They aced their performances: Eyad Nassar, Asmaa Abo El Yazeed, and Yosra El Lozy – every actor/actress brought their A-game, leaving us spellbound with their talent.
Ashghal Sha’a: Tie
This comedy had us laughing from the get-go, with each episode introducing a new house lady trying to cope with the chaos of household chores and baby sitting. We loved the stellar performances from Entesar, Inaam Salusa, and Eman el Sayed.
But here’s the thing: somewhere along the line, the laughs became less, and the pace slowed down a bit.
The fun thing is that we’re still craving more! A sequel could easily be worked out of this story, so let’s see.
Kamel El Addad: Hit
On the same high note as season 1 of Kamel El Addad, +1 came and also stole our hearts, leaving us mid-Ramadan in tears. And that final scene? Youssef Gabriel singing Elissa’s “Hanghany Kmana w Kaman”? It was the happy ending we all secretly crave.
We’re already counting down the days until season 3 (hopefully) hits our screens.
Get Ready for the Second Part of the Race
From suspense to comedy, the first half has really turned heads with its lineup of series. And now, with some players out, others are in, so we can’t wait to enjoy their thrilling stories and gripping characters!
