Meet the Featured Instagrammers of Egypt: @farouk_design

Instagram is the only social network that has managed to create its own true community. The people behind Instagram were smart enough to encourage Instagrammers to challenge each other visually, resulting in Instagram’s eminent growth in a relatively short time.

With their weekend hashtag projects, featured users, suggested users and Instameets, they’ve ensured massive user engagement and lots of alluring shots.

I talked to the 11 Egyptian Instagrammers who have been specially featured and suggested by the official Instagram account to unravel the secrets of their photo successes.

Ahmad Farouk (@farouk_design):

Farouk is a 33-year-old Art Director whose stunning picture of the Nile got featured by Instagram in their monthly edition of #LocalLens.

“The River Nile is the soul of Egypt and Egyptians,” says Cairo Instagrammer Ahmed Farouk (@farouk_design) for this month​’​s edition of #LocalLens. “It represents peace of mind, romance, beauty, history, our good nature—and it is the only river here.” Ahmed captures scenes on the waters of the Nile as well as the nearby Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea. “Water can reflect simplicity, as well as power and fun, and so many other things just like human moods. “I believe the people behind Instagram were searching for some photos related to the Nile and Egypt’s water in general,” he told us. “They were interested in the photos that represent the Nile in my feed.”

“I was really excited about being featured, but now I feel more concerned about perfecting my photos,” he continued.

Farouk added, “As an art director and a visual person in general, Instagram allowed me to view different perspectives of photography with new editing skills. Not to mention, the creative photos I check daily on Instagram inspire me a lot.”
