Following the horrific suicide attack at Cairo’s St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, the whole country has been praying for those who still had hope in recovery. Yet, it was 10-year-old Maggie Moemen’s death that shook us all down to the core.
While we’ve all been praying for her to get through and return to her mourning parents, her mother, Nermine Samir, has been asking God for something completely different, acceptance. This woman is having such a huge impact on me as a mother, those who lost the most important people in their lives and the ones who find it difficult at times to have faith in God and his will.

Maggie’s mother is what believeing in God looks like. I have been going through a lot lately and sometimes I wonder why this is happening or what kind of message God is trying to send me and I’m always told by my closest friend that maybe my struggles will inspire, guide and give strength to someone else one day. But then I see this woman, who lost her child right in front of her eyes, for no reason other than utter hate and ignorance, and I see the look on her face of pure acceptance, forgiveness and serenity, and I inspire to be her.
This is faith. This is a lesson. This is the strongest woman I have ever seen in my life. Maggie’s mother is redefining what belief looks like. Watch her inspiring interview here:
WE SAID THIS: May Maggie’s soul rest in peace.
