    cold weather

As you’ve already felt, heard and seen, Egypt’s winter is gracing us hard. For the first time in over a century, some claim, Cairenes got to wake up to memorable snowy landscapes across different parts of the city. We’re fortunate enough to be blessed to view this from a positive perspective – hot drinks, heaters, candles, holiday spirit, etc. But unfortunately, thats not the case for everyone. For those not as blessed, a cold night means a fight for survival. It kills me to hear that numerous deaths have already been reported due to the intense cold, and it’s only the beginning.

    How can you help?

    Blankets

    blankets

Numerous people have taken to their social media platform to collect donations for winter blankets to help those in need combat the cold weather. This is a great and easy initiative that doesn’t involve too much of your time and effort and, with just a small donation, you can help out immensely.

“For some of us, it’s as easy as snuggling up on the couch with a warm cup of tea. For others, it’s a lot more difficult.

We are collecting money for blankets to be distributed in Cairo and around Egypt. A contribution of EGP 46 buys a blanket that can keep 4 to 5 people warm. If you’d like to donate any amount, please msg me on 0100-090-3861 or inbox me for details.

Hope you’re all staying warm and keep your fingers crossed for a historic white Christmas!”

    Garments

    garments

We usually tend to forget the number of unworn items in our closets. Go home, open up your wardrobe and seriously pick out the things you haven’t worn in a while. Other people are in great need of your jackets, coats, shoes, whatever you can give out. Please do that, and don’t underestimate any clothing item. There’s always someone out there who will benefit from it, trust.

    Little Things

    soup

Sometimes a little thing can go a long way. A warm cup of tea or a bowl of soup handed directly to someone on the street will make them extremely happy. We’re always encouraged to go overboard with helping people, but sometimes it’s also nice not to disregard the little things. Give someone a kettle, a box of tea and some sugar – earn yourself a little prayer.

    Animals

    donkey

    Be merciful.

This picture of donkey covered from the cold weather is great to see. Be that donkey’s owner. See an animal suffering from the cold? Get in touch with an animal shelter! SPARE Egypt will directly handle your case. Also, it’s important not to forget to donate to the shelters in order for them to be able to take the animals in.

WE SAID THIS: Get in touch with organizations, see how you can help. Donate to orphanages, hospitals, retirement homes – not just your money, but also your time. Stay warm sans blankets knowing that someone out there is sleeping relatively easier because you took the initiative to help!
