Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, paid a visit to the UAE and documented it on his Twitter account. He visited Expo 2020, attended the Earthshot event, and saw a cool police car! Prince William and The Royal Foundation founded United for Wildlife in 2014. The foundation’s goal is to stop the illegal trade in wildlife, whether through trafficking or financing. United for Wildlife works with transport and finance sectors to ensure this doesn’t happen with the help of law enforcement and NGOs. Given that the UAE is working on the same thing, the Duke attended the signing of an agreement with Dubai Airports.
Earthshot Prize
In light of their collaborations and initiatives, Prince William is a friend of the UAW. He just visited to attend the first Earthshot Prize Innovation Showcase at the DP World Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. Besides the Duke was the chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO of Emirates Group, and Chairman of Dubai Airports, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed and Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
The Earthshot Prize is an environmentalism award given to five winners each year. Its mission is about a future full of change and innovations. This year, two prize finalists were praised for their work in the Middle East and the UAE and each one of them received a £1 million award. The finalists will use their funding to work on reef restoration in the MENA region. Their work is meant to restore marine life to coastal shorelines, by creating natural habitats such as mangrove roots and rock pools.
