Opened in the first week of Ramadan in May 2019, Sharjah Mosque is one of the UAE’s most spacious and most popular mosques. It’s spread across 2 million square feet, can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers, and has a parking space that can take up to 2,260 vehicles. It is the emirate’s largest mosque, and the UAE’s second-largest, after Abu Dhabi’s famous Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
From its domes and minaret, to its columns and ceiling, the Sharjah Mosque has a breathtaking design, strongly inspired by Islamic architecture, and Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi’s vision.
This mosque is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re into Ottoman-style architecture or like to enjoy a peaceful walk next to the fountains and waterfalls outdoors, or even visit the museum or cultural library.
