The moment the month of October arrives in Dubai, both locals and tourists breathe a sigh of relief, saying goodbye to malls as their go-to outlet for entertainment.

October and the months that follow mark the special Dubai winter season, during which outdoor markets and activities open up across the city, allowing for a fun, new way to experience it.

To get into the winter feel, these are some of the markets and activities that have opened up:

    Global Village

Hustling and bustling with tourists, locals, and the like is the cultural hot spot known as Global Village, which returned to Dubai in October 2023. Anyone visiting Global Village gets exposed to 78 countries and 90 cultures packed into a 17,200,000 sq. ft space. How, you may ask?

As its name implies, it’s truly a global village where you’ll find international food as well as stalls selling trinkets, gizmos, clothes, and the like from different countries.

Along with that, they also go big on entertainment; this year, they had international sensation Amr Diab belting out his best hits and on Feb 1st, Egyptian Superstar Ahmed Saad will also be taking the stage. For a jam-packed experience, Global Village should be on everyone’s bucket list.

    Covent Garden Market

Taking place at a number of venues including Marina Walk, Marsa Al Seef, The Walk JBR, Festival City, as well as Kite Beach. This outdoor market is home to a number of designers and small businesses as a way to support the local community.

Coming up soon, the Dubai Harbour Marina will be lit with homegrown and local stalls selling cool products to globetrotters and locals alike. So make sure to give it a visit.

    Miracle Garden

Opening up in late September is no other than the world’s largest natural flower garden. Miracle Garden is a literal outdoor floral masterpiece, showcasing more than 150 million flowers presented in intricate designs and patterns.

From a walkway of elegant floral swans to a massive floral airplane, these floral arrangements defy expectations and showcase the potential of floral artistry.

    Dubai Flea Market

Known as the biggest second-hand market in the UAE, expect everything from vintage to unique items across its many stalls. Each week, the Dubai Flea Market takes place at a different location, whether it’s Al Barsha Pond Park, Discovery Gardens, or other localities across the city.

The market will take place at Zabeel Park, where more than 200 stalls will offer cool bargains and products, including kitchenware, household items, toys, clothes, and much more.

    The Ripe Market

Since October 14, every weekend, the go-to stop to shop, eat, and explore comes to life at Academy Park. Known as the Ripe Market, as its name implies, it’s a haven for fresh food since it’s home to an array of white tent stalls that sell everything from organic fruits and vegetables to freshly baked goods.

Along with that, walking along its packed stalls, you’ll find colorful clothes, beach coverups, handmade jewelry, artwork, and much more. It has something for everyone, and what’s also great about it is that it’s the kind of market that supports homegrown businesses and local products.

Winter season is truly special in Dubai, as the city turns into an outdoor wonderland of activities, markets, and much more. Escape the daily grind of life by checking out all these seasonal spots that have opened up across the city.
