Get Ready To Belt It Out At Cairo’s Top Karaoke Spots

These days finding a karaoke spot in Cairo can be pretty tricky. It’s almost like a treasure hunt yet most of the time, instead of finding the treasure, you are faced with Google’s “permanently closed” red banner. Many places have suffered that fate, from Maadi’s Karaoke 7 to Stage El Zamalek.

Cairenes and Karaoke enthusiasts alike should get to tap into their inner Amr Diab and sing their hearts out in front of a crowd. That is why the Scoop Team took the liberty of finding some cool Karaoke spots that are actually open in the city.

    Bella Figura Restaurant & Lounge

    Via Cairopulse

    Location: Maadi

Giving off a cozy Old West vibe with its dark brown wooden tables, buffalo head mounted on its wall and dimly lit interiors, you wouldn’t believe that Bella Figura is actually an Italian restaurant owned by two Italian brothers. Not only do they serve Italian classics like Risotto AI Funghi and Parmigiana di Melanzane, but they also have homemade olive oil. One also would not guess that Bella Figura serves as a karaoke bar.

Every Wednesday night, starting from 9 pm, guests can pick up the mic and sing to their heart’s delight with a live DJ from NRG Music blasting the tunes from the turntables. To pick out their song, a program gets sent to their phone that includes a catalog of all the songs they can sing. Once they have picked one out, they would write it down on a piece of paper to be performed later on.

A few things you should know:

    • Requires pre-booking (1 day before if 1-5 people, 2 days before if more than 5 people)
    • Price: 300 EGP per person (includes food and drink)

    Room Art Space

    Via Room Art Space

Location: New Cairo and Garden City

Known to be a multi-purpose space for all sorts of events and themed nights like Stand Up Comedy shows and cool performances like the 18th of August’s Coldplay Acoustic Night performed by Strawberry Swing, Room Art Space is also the host of Karaoke Nights.

For the month of August, at New Cairo’s Spot Mall, their Karaoke nights are usually on Wednesday and Thursday nights (8-10 pm). While at Garden City, Karaoke night is held every Tuesday (8-9 pm).

On a special night, you get to perform on a very large stage in front of a crowd. Prior to performing, you get to pick your song from a large black catalog that includes everything from famous guilty pleasures like Aqua’s Barbie Girl to some of Mohamed Mounir’s classics.

A few things you should know:

    • Requires pre-booking by visiting one of the branches on site
    • Price: 100 EGP
    • You also have to pay a minimum charge of 100 EGP for food and drinks
    • Food is average in taste and quality

    Zulu South African Restaurant

    Via Zulu

    Location: Maadi

Opening its doors in 2017, Maadi’s Zulu is a restaurant run and owned by a South African couple. Located at Street 100, it exudes a South African vibe with its colorful patterned walls and South African sayings. It likes to maintain its authenticity and that is why some of its ingredients are imported from South Africa including its steak and spices. Some of its special dishes include the Peri Peri 1/2 chicken as well as Boerewors (homemade South African grilled sausages)

Other than their unique dining experience, every Saturday they would stage a karaoke night accompanied by a DJ. If you are the kind that likes to stay up, you can sing all you want from 9 pm until 1 am.

Unlike Room Art Space, at Zulu you can pick out any song you like. You would first need to download an application on your phone, pick out your song from the application and submit your choice. Then, you would write down the song you have picked out and your name on a piece of paper and give it to the MC and you’re good to go.

A few things you should know:

    • Requires pre-booking
    • Price: 250 LE per person

    Almaz Restaurant & Bar

    Via Instagram

    Location: Mohandessin

Inside the Swiss Inn Hotel, you’ll find Almaz’s darkly lit bar. It’s an entertainment-fueled hot spot with music constantly playing in the background; alternating between Arabic and English tunes as well as a line-up of events every week. From belly dancing to live performances by their singer, Basheer, Almaz is a great spot for a night of fun and music. You can also dine and enjoy dishes like their Cordon Bleu.

On Saturdays, the guests become the performers with their karaoke night. Starting from 9 pm, accompanied by a DJ, performers would pick out their song from a pre-determined list made by Almaz then they would perform and let out their inner diva.

A few things you should know:

    • Requires pre-booking (at least 1 to 2 days before)
    • Price: 300 LE per person

    The Atrium

    Via Instagram

    Location: Maadi

This restaurant with its narrow walkways, white walls and potted plants, gives off a homey vibe. It serves Korean dishes like Bulgogi and Tteok-bokki as well as a wide variety of themed nights ranging from Afro Beat Night to Back to the 90s. Yet, the crowd favorite seems to be their karaoke night, held every Tuesday from 9:30 until 1:30 am in the morning. Every performance gets to be accompanied by a DJ.

Prior to your performance, you need to download the NRG Music application and pick out the song of your choice from their large pre-curated alphabetized playlist with songs from legends like Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin.

A few things you should know:

    • Requires pre-booking (Could book on the same day if not a large group)
    • Price: 250 LE per person

Get those vocal cords ready for a fun night at any of these Karaoke hotspots.
