From Kahk to Eidiyah Hunts: Eid Morning Activities Your Kids Will Love

Eid morning carries a special kind of magic—the crisp feel of new clothes, the warm aroma of kahk baking in the oven, and the joyful energy of family gatherings. For children, it’s a day of excitement, filled with anticipation and surprises.

Making the morning extra special with fun, hands-on activities adds to the celebration and creates lasting memories. From baking together to decorating the home, here are a few ways to make the first hours of Eid even more meaningful!

    1. Baking Kahk Together as a Family

Nothing signals Eid quite like the scent of freshly baked kahk wafting through the house. Instead of just serving them, turn the process into a family activity.

Kids will love rolling the dough into small balls, stamping them with traditional patterns, and dusting them with powdered sugar once they’re done.

The best part is that they get to sneak a taste before sharing them with guests. The wait as they bake adds to the anticipation, making that first bite even sweeter. Beyond the fun, baking together keeps this cherished Arab tradition alive for the next generation.

    2. Creating a Festive Atmosphere With DIY Eid Decorations

Transforming the house with handmade decorations is a simple yet effective way to build excitement for Eid. Set up a crafting station with colored paper, markers, and glitter, and let kids create banners with Arabic calligraphy, crescent moons, and stars.

Besides that, making mini fawanees (lanterns) using recycled materials adds a creative and sustainable touch.

Not only does this activity engage children, but it also gives them a sense of ownership over the festive atmosphere. Every year, they’ll look forward to seeing their homemade decorations brighten up the house.

    3. Passing Down Eid Tales

Eid is about more than just gifts and food—it’s a time to connect with culture and tradition. Gather the kids for a storytelling session featuring Eid tales, whether they’re classic folk stories or real-life memories from family members.

Picture books about Eid in Arabic or English can also bring the holiday to life. Sharing these stories reinforces the values of generosity, gratitude, and joy. As children listen, they form a deeper connection to the celebration and the customs that make it unique.

    4. Turning Eidiyah Into an Exciting Scavenger Hunt for Kids

Eidiyah is one of the highlights of Eid for kids, but instead of simply handing over the money, why not make it a little adventure? Create a scavenger hunt by hiding small envelopes around the house and giving kids clues to find them.

The clues could include fun riddles in Arabic or hints based on family traditions. This small twist adds excitement and turns a simple gesture into a cherished memory. It also encourages problem-solving and teamwork if siblings or cousins join in.

    5. Celebrating With a Fashion Show

Dressing up in new clothes is a beloved Eid tradition, so why not turn it into a fun activity? Let kids show off their outfits in a mini fashion show at home, complete with music and photos.

If they’re more active, a short morning walk to greet neighbors or admire Eid decorations in the streets can be a great alternative. This way, they not only enjoy their special outfits but also soak in the festive spirit of the day!

Make Eid Morning Meaningful With Traditions Kids Will Cherish

The first morning of Eid sets the tone for the rest of the celebration, making it the perfect time to engage kids in meaningful traditions. Whether it’s through baking, storytelling, or decorating, these activities create joy and strengthen family bonds.

More than just fun, they help children develop a deep connection to Eid—one they’ll carry with them for years to come. Eid Mubarak!
