From the world’s perspective, Egypt is known to be the home to the Giza Pyramids; the last remaining monument on the list of the seven wonders of the ancient world with mesmerizing history, rich culture, and deep-rooted traditions of the ancient civilization.
However, that’s not what Egypt is all about as there’s so much more to this country. Focusing on our modern day-to-day life, Egypt has literally dominated the Middle East and almost everything we love is Egyptian! From listening to the greatest musicians or singers like Um Kalthoum and Abdel Halim, who are Egyptian, to the simple example of singing the birthday song ‘sana helwa ya gamil,’ which is also Egyptian. We all grew up listening to the Egyptian phenomena Um Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafiz, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Leila Mourad, and many more amazing stars from the golden age. We all agree these were probably the reasons behind the amazing success of Arabic music in general.
Movie industry
Egypt has unapologetically dominated the film industry for so long. Everyone in the Middle East grew up watching Suaad Hosni, Shadia, Abdel Halim Hafiz, Faten Hamama, Omar El Sherif, and Ismail Yassin. The list can go on and on and all of their movies take up a huge part of our childhood and for that, we love them.

We can all agree that this Egyptian Liverpool badass striker, known as the Egyptian King, is exceptionally loved by not just the people of his homeland, but literally everyone all over the world!
Birthday song
We just realized not so long ago that everyone within the region without exception sings the birthday song in the Egyptian dialect! How strange.
Belly dancers
Egypt is known for its crazy nightlife scene, but what makes it so special and desirable are actually the charming and sensible belly dancers. A lot of people from across the region fly to Egypt annually, usually during the summer, to enjoy the unique experience.
Mahraganat
Everyone, with no exceptions, have listened to at least one of the Mahraganat songs. It’s a genre of Egyptian electronic dance music that has become widely popular not only in Egypt, but across the region as well.
Leaving footwear upside down brings bad luck
Every country has its own weird superstitious beliefs. In the Middle East for example, we believe that when you leave your footwear upside down, it brings bad luck. And guess what, it’s actually an old Egyptian belief.

Egyptian cotton is considered to be the finest, most luxurious cotton in the world! For three centuries, Egyptian cotton has prevailed in the textile industry, and has been the favorite and most used type in the Arab region.
