Ramadan is just around the corner. Among the many rituals of Egyptian culture in this festive month is the whole family gathering around the TV to immerse themselves in a variety of Ramadan series!

Since we can’t wait for the 2024 season and what it has to offer, we thought to shine a spotlight on some of the most iconic TV series in Egyptian history — ones that we always sit down and rewatch once we see them on screen.

    A’elat Al Hajj Metwalli

We can’t start this list without the legendary Nour El-Sherif’s masterpiece, Aelat Al Hajj Metwalli. With its compelling storyline and memorable characters, it remains a timeless classic in Egyptian TV history.

    Lann A’eish Fi Gilbab Aby

This one is another level of addiction. Who can forget the love story of Abdel Ghafour Al-Bora’ei and Fatma Koshary, which remains one of the most iconic stories of all time?

Lann A’eish Fi Gilbab Aby continues to capture hearts, remaining super relatable even today, with comics flooding social media feeds. Talk about timeless!

    Yawmiat Wanees

Mohammed Sobhy’s Yawmiat Wanees isn’t just a series; it’s like a masterclass in family dynamics. It’s a cornerstone of Egyptian drama; there’s no denying that.

    Raya Wa Sekina

The macabre true story? Captivating performances? Lucky are the ones who still haven’t watched Abla Kamel’s and Somaya El Khashab’s masterpiece, Raya Wa Sekina, which narrates the chilling story of two sister serial killers that shook Egypt in the early 20th century.

    Al-Hakika W El-Sarab

Another one dominating social media is Fifi Abdou’s spicy family drama, Al-Hakika W El-Sarab. Bassem Abou El-Soud’s character will never fade away if you ask us!

    Raafat Al Haggan

Inspired by true events, Raafat Al Haggan showcased the heroic story of the Egyptian spy Refaat Al-Gammal. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz’s stunning portrayal will leave you feeling proud of this pivotal story in Egyptian history.

    Layaly El Helmeya

Empires. Revenge. Conflict. Family Drama. Osama Anwar Okasha’s and Ismail Abdel Hafez’s Layaly El Helmeya narrates a mesmerizing tale that takes center stage in the history of Egyptian drama.

    Hadith Al-Sabah Wal Masaa’

From the brilliant mind of Naguib Mahfouz, Hadith Al-Sabah Wal Masaa’ is an all-time favorite for all history buffs since it delves into political and social history in Egypt through three main characters and their families.

    Hawanem Garden City

Showcasing Egypt’s monarchy period and the societal effects that followed the 1952 Revolution, Hawanem Garden City speaks elegance, politics, and love.

    Bakiza W Zaghloul

Rounding out the list with a comedy, Bakiza W Zaghloul, starring lovely Egyptian icons Soheir El-Bably and Essad Youniss, is a typical laugh-provoking story of a woman who has to deal with her husband’s daughter following his demise.

How many of these masterpieces have you watched? If you scored less than 8/10, it’s time to get back on track and even prepare yourself for the 2024 Ramadan season.
