    As Dubai is already geared up to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Residents, as well as tourists, are going to have the chance to enjoy a wide range of cultural community, and family-related events showcasing the rich local heritage of the Emirates. The city will stay awake, both during the day and at night, and there’ll be a lineup of events that will enable you to experience the main Islamic values of compassion, giving, and sharing!

    With 2019 being observed as the Year of Tolerance in the UAE, we look forward to offering a variety of different experiences across the emirate for people of all cultural backgrounds to enjoy the holy month together. The programme of events and activities will offer an insight into the true essence of Emirati hospitality, giving visitors the opportunity to feel part of Dubai’s diverse multicultural family.

    Ahmed Al-Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said, “The city’s private and public sector entities have joined hands once again to offer an exciting calendar of events throughout the holy month that revolves around the pillars of the community, family, and more”.

    Community

    Ramadan Dubai

    As was mentioned, 2019 being the Year of Tolerance in the UAE, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai has declared that it will launch the ‘Ramadan Dubai’ initiative. Ramadan Dubai is a way to help spread the message of tolerance and bringing communities under the name of compassion and coexistence.

    The activities that will be featured in ‘Ramadan Dubai’ will include the opportunity to visit Ramadan tents and be part of the Iftar dialogue; it’s an educational program on Islam. Ramadan nights are going to take place across the malls featuring numerous activities; including art and writings of Quranic texts, calligraphy, painting workshops, as well as exhibitions.

    Platinum Heritage

    This is the perfect opportunity for you to experience a traditional Iftar. Sign up for a Desert Safari with Platinum Heritage to live a one of a kind desert experience, also to learn more about Ramadan as well as the Bedouin way of life. During the Iftar time, guests are going to have the opportunity to enjoy the delicious dishes of lamb ouzi, lentil soup, grilled minced beef kofta, and more while sitting at the mesmerizing Bedouin camps.

    ‘Open Doors, Open Minds’ at Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding

    The center invites visitors to take part in its activities; including a range of Arabic classes, historical and heritage tours, as well as guided mosque visits. The experience is offering a chance for cultural understanding, enabling an interactive opportunity to learn more about Ramadan and the UAE’s history and culture.

    Heritage Tours on the QE2 Dubai, Port Rashid

    Even during Ramadan, the ocean liner will play an active role in attracting visitors. The QE2 Heritage Trail will give its visitors an insight into the rich history of the cruise ship; the experience will begin at the exhibition area in the main terminal. The trail will also showcase some of the ocean liner’s key features; such as The Bridge and the Queens Room.

    Also, during the tour, visitors are going to be able to view a selection of rooms, as well as suites, and most importantly, the original dining venue and a wide collection of historical artifacts.

    Arte Market

    It’s going to take place on May 10th at Times Square Center and on May 17th at Mercato Mall. One of the biggest handmade arts and goods bazaar, Arte Market, is the perfect place to enjoy the handmade wonders of art, home decor’, fashion, skincare, and even food.

    Over 150 artists are participating in the Arte Market showcase. In addition to entrepreneurs from across the UAE who have extraordinary talent and creative visions. The event is providing a one of a kind chance to pick up a customized piece of jewelry, organic soap, or even home decor items and cushions.

    Wow Eid Bazar

    All residents and visitors can visit the Wow Eid Bazaar. It’s taking place on May 24th at Holiday Inn, Bur Dubai. An excellent destination to get some of the best bargains, this festive market will offer a wide range of merchandise; jewelry, fashion, gifts, and home decor, giving its visitors an endless shopping experience. Not to mention that you’ll have the chance to get a henna tattoo!

    Ramadan Trunk Show

    It’ll be taking place on May 17th at Sheraton Grand Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road. Ramadan Trunk Show is going to be back for its 10th edition with Ladyz Fusion, offering its visitors a chance to experience the latest in fashion. With items ranging from jewelry, style, matching accessories, it’s also offering an array of bargains. The show is definitely going to give you a chance to update your wardrobe before Eid.

    Art Exhibitions

    Dubai is planning to host a number of art events to showcase the amazing works of talented artists including the Japanese Artist Chihara Shiota, the New York and Dubai-based Artist Farah Al-Qasimi, as well as Hemali Bhuta, Seher Shah, and Randhir Singh. All of these artists are going to display their artwork at Jameel Arts Center.

    There will be other art shows including the exhibition by Rana Begum called ‘Perception and Reflection’. In addition to ‘The Mountain at Meet Gallery’, ‘The Permanent Exhibition’ at SVENM, ‘TIBE NOW’ by Philip Mueller, ‘Architecture of Being’ and at Showcase Gallery, the Exhibition of Zino Irema will be displayed. Not to mention Alserkal Avenue’s ‘Altered Inheritances: Home is a Foreign Place’, and finally, Spring Break Exhibition at Custot Gallery and Kamrooz Aram at Green Art Gallery.
