If you’re not a hardcore gamer, you might not be familiar with the term “Esports”. To enlighten you, Esports is a form of competition using video games. In several regions of the world, Esports is huge! The picture below is this year’s World Championship for one of the most popular video games in the world, League of Legends! The prize pool of these championships is more than you would imagine as well. League of Legends’ season 7 prize pool was five million dollars! Speaking of League of Legends, if you are a fan of this game, but are looking to improve your skillset or just play with a couple of friends who have just started out, maybe doing some research into something similar to unranked lol account could be the starting point of you and your friends one day entering Esports tournaments.
In our region, Esports isn’t as big, and not because of the lack of extremely hardcore and competitive gamers. Hopefully, this might change real soon, with video game companies realizing the huge market that is the Middle East!
Late next month, on the 29th of September, gamers in Egypt are marking their calendars for the Esports Summit! The summit is taking place in the Greek Campus, from 12 PM to 10 PM, and it’s hosted by Gamers Lounge. It’s my first time to check out their page but apparently, they hosted many other events before that look really interesting and fun.
The event is promising intense competitive tournaments for the most popular games right now; like League of Legends, Fortnite, Clash Royale, FIFA, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and Need for Speed! There will also be a cosplay competition, and I can’t wait to see what the attendees will have in store this year.
One of the main reasons I’m definitely going is that there will be booths and stores that sell merchandise of video games, fantasy movies, superheroes, and other geeky stuff! The ticket for entry is just EGP60, and signing up for any tournament (except the League of Legends Summer Cup Final) is for free!
