    Egypt’s early exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has left many depressed. The team’s weak performances and the Amr Warda’s sexual harassment scandal shattered Egyptians’ hopes and dreams, but it’s time we take your mind off football and spread some positivity.

    Here is a list of Egyptian athletes breaking records this month other than Mohamed Salah:

    Handball Junior’s National Team

    The Egyptian junior national team just defeated Sweden in the Men’s Handball Junior World Championship. The team opened the tournament with a win against Nigeria followed by Australia. Now Egypt has qualified for the round of 16 coming, coming second place behind France, with two games remaining against South Korea and France.

    Goalkeeper, Abdel Rahman Taha, was named player of the match following an outstanding perfomance.

    Swimmer Abd ElRahman Sameh moved to the semi-finals after finishing in 15th place at the 50m butterfly swim at 23.54 seconds during the 18th FINA World Championships Gwangju 2019.

    Para Powerlifters Sherif Osman, Rehab Ahmed, Taha Adel, Hany Abdel Hady, and Fatma Omar

    Earlier this month, two Para Powerlifters won gold at the World Para Powerlifting Championships title in Kazakhstan: Rehab Ahmed playing for women’s up to 50kg and Sherif Osman who won his fourth world championship. Powerlifters Fatma Omar and Taha Adel qualified for Tokyo 2020.

    Egyptian Ping Pong player, Islam Reda, has won the gold medal in the African championship that took place in Alexandria this month. The championship qualified the winner to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

    Under-21 pentathalon athletes participated in the World Championships in Genkov, Poland. Mohanad Tarek Shaaban won the golde medal and Salma Ayman Abdulmaksud and Amira Kandil won the silver medals.

    Ahmed ElGendy has been described as the best young pentathlete in the world after becoming the world champion at both the UIPM Junior and Under 19 Tetrathlon World Championships. This year, ElGendy won the gold medal in the UIPM 2019 Pentathlon World Cup.

    Egypt’s Ahmed Adly has now qualified for the 2019 Chess World Cup after winning the gold medal at the Africa Zone 4.2 Individual Chess Championship in Kenya’s Mombasa.

    Synchronized Swimming Team

    Our Egyptian synchronized swimmers just qualified for Tokyo 2020 after winning first place for Africa at the World Championship in Korea.
