The food that we consume has a huge impact on our body and our health. To be fit and mentally prepared for our daily tasks, it is necessary to follow a healthy diet. Our food regime should be individually tailored to satisfy our body’s nutrient requirements. Every meal should consist of the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.

Nevertheless, following a healthy diet that will be better for our body is not an easy task, especially because of the dynamic lifestyle most of us follow. Also, there are so many delicious fast food meals that make it even harder to resist and follow a certain diet. For that reason, adopting a healthy diet should come spontaneously, as a conscious decision to give our bodies what they need. Restrictions and starvation won’t get you anywhere. Instead, you should focus on eating more nutrient-rich superfoods that will nourish your body.

Nowadays, there is a lot of advice about what is healthy and what is not, which can be overwhelming. So, if you want to lose weight or improve your health without a strict regime, or reducing your meals, we offer you some tips that will help you find the right nutritious diet for you.

Enrich your meals by adding more fruits and vegetables

It is known that fruits and vegetables are the main sources of vitamins, fiber, minerals, and antioxidants. The best way to receive these nutrients is to consume at least five fruits or vegetables during a day in exchange for unhealthy snacks that we often eat between meals, or as an addition to the meal.

Diets that include fruits can reduce the risk of diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. In addition, they are known to lower cholesterol, protect you from heart diseases and maintain a healthy weight.

Ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables in meals

    • Include them in your breakfast: Add fruits such as bananas, strawberries, blueberries and other fruits to your cereal, make smoothies from various fruits or make a fresh salad.
    • Eat them raw or cook them: There are numerous healthy food recipes that include fruits and vegetables.
    • Make colorful salads: Include several veggies that will add more flavors and make the meal more appealing.
    • Use sweet vegetables: Carrots, onions, and sweet potatoes, instead of consuming food that contains sugar. These vegetables will satisfy your quest for something sweet.
    • Improve your cooking skills: Experiment by mixing fruits with vegetables. You can also prepare the vegetables in several ways: boil, grill, or roast them and make delicious and at the same time healthy food.

Select a healthier option for your body

To maintain a healthy diet, you do not need to restrict yourself from food but find a way to include the necessary nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and liquids. The proteins are nutrients that give energy, improve the immune system, regulate blood sugar, and keep a balance of the water percentage in our body. They contain 20 amino acids that are responsible for improving the cognitive function as well.

For that reason, try to consume a meal that is rich in proteins that are needed for your body, such as dairy products, meat, fish and nuts. If you are more active, it is advisable to consume protein powder as a supplement because otherwise, you will face a calorie deficit.

The second important nutrients are healthy fats that have a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. The most known fats are omega-3, which improve your brain’s health and reduce the risks of mental disorders and autoimmune diseases. The healthy fats can be found in nuts, soymilk, olives, avocados, fish oil, pumpkin seeds, tofu, and other sources.

Carbohydrates are the third macronutrient vital for your health and energy. It is recommended that more than 50 calories a day come from carbs. As with fats, there are good and bad carbs, which have a different impact on your health. The good carbs can be found in beans, fresh vegetables, potatoes, walnuts, brown rice, peas, pumpkin seeds, and almonds. These nutrients contain fibers and natural sugar and they are digested slowly allowing the body to get energy and to make you feel full.

On the other hand, the bad carbs have the opposite effect, they will give you an instant surge of energy that will fade very fast and make you feel hungry again. They are mostly transformed into fats, responsible for extra weight. The bad carbs can be found in delicious treats such as cookies, bread, ice cream, yogurt, sweets, chips, and pasta but you need to avoid them as much as possible.

    Stay hydrated

Along with eating healthy, staying hydrated is also very important for your health. Water reduces toxins and unnecessary products and helps you stay active. Our bodies are 70% made out of water, so make sure you drink around 2l of water daily to maintain the necessary balance and support the essential functions of your body.

Additionally, drinking tea is healthy because it contains antioxidants and protects you from cardiovascular diseases, providing various health benefits for your body. Green tea has been praised for its antioxidants, however, you should pay attention to the amount, since it contains caffeine.

Other important tips for your health

Maintaining a habit to eat healthily can be a struggle if there is no determination and a positive mindset. What can help you, in that case, is making a plan for your meals. This way you will consume only the healthier options and buy products that are on your list of healthy meals.

If you cook or prepare your meals at home, you can control what goes into your meal and the amount of nutrients and calories that you can receive. In addition, you can experiment with food and make delicious combinations that will provide you with vital nutrients.

Another healthy option is to consume whole foods and products that are not very processed. Furthermore, while preparing your meal, replace your favorite unhealthy treats with healthy alternatives that will enhance the flavor. Do not forget to check for labels and the ingredients when you buy certain products. This way you will know what you consume.

WE SAID THIS: It is equally important to know that being active and exercising is very beneficial for your health, as well as eating slowly and planning your portions.
