The heat and sun of the Arabian Gulf, that we despise so much, is gaining attention for record-breaking numbers in Dubai’s solar park. Located on the desert’s blazing surface, the park is spread over 77 km of land.
By 2030, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park will become the largest solar park in the world. The tremendous site will also home the largest thermal energy storage capacity, and the tallest energy tower at 260 meters. According to CNN, the $13.6 billion investment is able to power 1.3 million homes, which would reduce carbon emissions by 6.5 million tonnes on annual bases.
Divided into phases, the initial start of the project dates to January 2012. The project is part of the UAE’s vision of Clean Energy Strategy by 2050, aiming to turn three-thirds of the country’s use to clean sources. The fourth phase will feature the world’s largest energy tower and largest thermal storage capacity upon completion.
The clean, renewable, and reliable source will save the UAE a big chunk of the economy. The eco-friendly monster is also endlessly providing jobs in the field, showing endless productivity and advantages of the investment.
