Summer hits differently in Dubai. Do you know why? As with every year, the iconic Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) takes over the city. Running for 10 weeks, from June 28 to September 1st, an exceptional lineup of offers and Dubai-only experiences will take place.

This year is going to be jam-packed with once-in-a-lifetime deals, unmissable raffles, shopping experiences, and non-stop events. Let’s take a look at what is expected in this year’s calendar:

    Concerts & Events

    Beat the Heat Concert

Coming back for its third edition, the Beat the Heat concert is bringing a major lineup of the biggest stars across the region to take the stage. We are talking everyone from Siilawy, Marwan Moussa, and Aziz Maraka to Abu El Anwar and Abyusif.

Mark your calendars for 12-13 July and 19-20 July, as the Dubai World Trade Center will turn into a hub for Arabic indie music. Tickets start at AED 131. Get yours now on Spotlightlive.ae.

    2024 Symphonic Middle East Festival

DSS won’t just be celebrating Arab rap and indie music, they will also be giving you a taste for the classics. On July 5, the 2024 Symphonic Middle East Festival will introduce a captivating performance by ST-DUO, a Russian piano duo known as Sophia Sakhnova and Antonina Luzko.

Alongside the music that will waft from the piano, audiences will enjoy a captivating tango by Argentinian dancers that will accompany the performance.

    Retail Prizes

Calling all shopaholics, lovers of Black Friday, and seasonal sales, DSS is a literal invitation to retail bliss with 10 weeks of crazy deals and promotions. Not just that, these crazy deals will be for more than 800 top brands, with discounts reaching up to 75%.

    Raffles & More

DSS isn’t just about retail deals. They like to take things a step further with exciting prizes. One of the ones to keep an eye out for is the DSS Daily Surprises. Basically, every day, from July 2 to August 4, there will be daily surprises across sports, fashion, beauty, and home labels.

If you like winning big, there is also the SHARE Millionaire Win a Maserati campaign that will run from June 28 to September 1. It is simple: to take part, you need to spend AED 300 or more at the Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif; that way, you will enter the draw to win a chance at getting a Maserati. Only 6 winners will nab the big prize.

If you are not eyeing a Maserati and instead want a Lexus, you can instead spend at least 300 AED at Dubai Festival City Mall to enter the draw.

Lovers of jewelry, you can also enter one of these big raffles by heading to Wadi City and spending at least 300 AED across any outlet in the mall. That way, you’ll be automatically placed in a raffle draw with a chance to win a dazzling 22.2-carat diamond necklace and earrings set in 18-carat white gold, all valued at 70,000 AED.

    Gastronomy

Foodies, we didn’t forget about you. You also get to indulge in what you love most: exceptional dining experiences. During DSS, these are the two foodie experiences to look forward to:

    Summer Restaurant Week

It is time to roll your sleeves as Summer Restaurant Week is back. From August 23 till September 1, foodies get to indulge in delicious meals from a handpicked list of 50 top family-friendly restaurants. In each of these restaurants, you get to indulge in tasty set menus for lunch and dinner.

    Sizzling Summer Eats

The fun doesn’t stop at Summer Restaurant Week, as Sizzling Summer Eats will kick off its inaugural edition on July 15 for the first time.

For 30 days, you and your family can indulge in delicious meals with incredible discounts by heading to any of the 100 DSS handpicked restaurants, where prices start from 20% off for 2 diners and go up to 30% off for 4 diners.

    Summer Camps

DSS isn’t just about shopping and enjoying a meal; there are even exceptional summer camps for children to take part in fun adventures:

    Ski Dubai

To escape the heat, Ski Dubai is back with yet another summer camp that will open its doors from July 1 to August 30. Inside, kids can embark on fun snow activities, educational programs, trips to Magic Planet and Vox Cinemas, and much more.

    Al Shindagha Museum Summer Camp

Upping the ante and adventure factor, Al Shindagha Museum Summer Camp, running from July 15-19 and 22-26, will have kids thinking on their feet as they take on thrilling challenges and indoor activities that will test their critical thinking and problem-solving.

L’ÉCOLE Middle East School of Jewellery Arts

For the artsy kids out there, it is time to get your hands dirty with L’ÉCOLE Middle East School of Jewellery Arts, a workshop all about immersive jewelry making. From July 1 to the 13th, you and your kids can bond over jewelry making and get to learn about its history.

    Mall Surprises

As it is called Dubai Summer Surprises, surprises are expected. This year, they are taking it up a notch:

    Despicable Me 4 Interactive Activation

Those yellow rascals with their own hilarious lingo, the Minions, will grace our screens again with the UAE premiere of Despicable Me 4.

In celebration of the movie, from July 1 to 16, Mall of the Emirates is going to launch a fun interaction with a ball-pit slide and many opportunities to snap quirky photos. To take part, you need to spend at least 300 AED in the mall.

    E-Gaming Festival

If you are a gamer, you should head to City Centre Mirdif as it is throwing a thrilling e-gaming festival that will include live performances by Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar characters.

    Daily Circus Entertainment

Every day, the quaint shopping mall known as Mercato will transform into a bustling circus entertainment spot. They will also have their summer slide available, the massive slide within the mall where you and your family can zap down for a thrilling ride.

With so many more activities, events, and offers, DSS offers a new and fun way to experience summer in Dubai. To learn more about what is in store, visit the Visit Dubai website.
