If there is one place that guarantees the welfare of children, then it is the Yad Ezra V’Shulamit organization.
Having been started in 1998, this charity has been at the forefront in ensuring all children from the poor families get to have a warm meal on their time and chance for a better life for themselves through education and youth programs.
The organization has grown rapidly since it started and has seen the number of families being helped rise in their hundreds. As a token for the great work they were doing, the mayor of Tzefat donated land and helped build a new and bigger complex than could enable them help more families.
The new center is set to have the following facilities:
- Vocational training programs.
- A distribution point for thousands of food baskets each week.
- A center for at-risk youth.
- A Children’s Center where 450 children receive a hot meal daily.
Excellent Vocational Program
Yad Ezra V’Shulamit vocational program is especially of importance as it helps the youth be able to make something useful of their lives. At the center, they are taught life skills which include leaving the streets and crime, going back to school and getting a career that can make their lives better. This new and bigger building will, therefore, mean that more youth get to be assisted.
The vocational training also comes with a job desk meant to help a person find work. The job desk is headed by a career counselor who also doubles as a social worker in the organization. They help match the needy with various job openings that include both educated and non-educated groups of people.
The job desk also assists them with writing their CVs and cover letters after which they are recommended to potential employers. As a result of this, many have been able to get either full time or part-time jobs.
Child Care Center
A statistical report revealed that 1/3 of the children live below the poverty level and are thus malnourished. This figure means that thousands of children are at risk of facing growth and development problems.
However, thanks to the Yad Ezra V’Shulamit baby center, there is hope that a good number of these children can have a chance at proper growth and development.
