As we all know, we have four face shapes: oval, heart, round and square. Each face shape can vary from one person to another. For instance, two people can have the same bone structure but one face can be fuller than the other. Also, face shapes can change by losing or gaining weight, and a good haircut can change your whole look, from drab to fab. Below is a guide on getting your perfect haircut depending on your face shape.
Oval Shape
Definition: forehead may be slightly wider than the chin, and the length of the face is about one and a half times the width. Experts say all styles suit this face shape, but I personally prefer the medium length to long locks haircut because it balances your overall look. Avoid cutting your hair really short because that will make your face look longer. The tips of your hair should pass your jawline.
Heart Shape
Definition: wider forehead and cheekbones with a narrow jawline and chin. Girls with heart-shaped face, you’re in luck! I find this face shape the best as I see all haircuts suit it. The only thing you need to take note of is to decrease the width of the forehead and increase the width of the lower part of the face by either having a long, side-swept fringe that shows off the forehead or layers around the cheekbones to provide length to the face.
Round Shape
Definition: prominent, rounded cheeks with equal width and length of the face. Layers, layers and more layers. Go with something that gives you depth with layers to give you more structure, visually, especially if you have a full face.
Square Shape
Definition: prominent square chin, with forehead and jawline roughly the same width. For this face shape, go for haircuts that are below your jawline to soften the corners of your face. Keep your bangs on the side instead of having a curtain-like fringe. If your hair is above the shoulders, add lots of movement with texture and layers.
WE SAID THIS: If you have strong curls, AVOID short haircuts that are above your jawline, unless you want to go for pixie short, that will be fine.
