Once it opens in 2021, Deira Mall, will claim the title of the Middle East’s biggest mall which now belongs to Dubai Mall. Construction of Deira Mall is set to begin in the first quarter of 2018, it will be built by property developer Nakheel, on a total retail space of over 17 million sqft, with more than 1,000 shops, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment outlets across 4.5 million sqft, and a 3.8 million sqft multi-storey car park with 8,400 parking bays.
“Deira Mall combines cutting edge design, world-class facilities and a stunning location to bring a new dimension to Dubai’s retail sector,” said Nakheel’s Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, adding “With its top-flight shopping, dining and entertainment offering, the mall will provide endless attractions for residents of Deira Islands, the wider UAE community and the millions of tourists who visit Dubai each year.”
The main feature that will distinguish Deira Mall from any other shopping mall in the world is the retractable glass roof that will open during winter and allows for natural light.
Deira Mall isn’t the only large-scale project by Nakheel at Deira Islands. Deira Islands Night Souk, will be the world’s largest night market, once it opens later this year with 5,300 shops and almost 100 quayside cafes and restaurants.
