Education can do wonders for anyone around the world. In many countries, however, there are many young girls who haven’t been given the opportunity to learn how to read, write and communicate. According to USAID, in Egypt, women are on the lower end of the literacy scale, with only 65% of women are literate compared to 82% of men. According to UNICEF’s Report, there are around 8.8 million boys and girls in Egypt that haven’t even attended primary school.

So, in an effort to boost organizations and help bring people together to grow and prosper through training programs that create learning opportunities, the UK-based premium soft skills training services provider, Red Rock International, hosted its Second Corporate Race that took place in Zed El Sheikh Zayed, powered by Orange! Just like last year’s great success, the 2019 Race’s cause actually aligns with the Egyptian president’s declaration that it’s the “Year of Education”.

The Corporate Race Powered by Orange raised one million EGP as funds for the vocational education of 150 Egyptian girls with Injaz Egypt. Dina El Mofty, Cofounder of INJAZ Egypt said: “We are so excited to be bringing together our community of corporate partners to join in the Corporate Race ‘19 for a full day of fun team building activities and all to support a great cause impacting girls entrepreneurial education across Egypt.” She said.

There were about 30 different teams that participated in the race, representing a wide range of industries, as well as a number of Egypt’s influential enterprises to take part in a corporate race event, all of whom came together for one cause – the corporate world can come together to make a difference in those girls’ lives.

The race was actually powered by Orange as a Platinum Sponsor, as well as three other sponsors; ZED El Sheikh Zayed as a Gold Sponsor, Orascom Industries, and Pepsico as Silver Sponsors. Included IDH, Adeco and Pulse Studio as additional supporters.

The Corporate Race spanned for an entire day, featuring so many fun activities that were specially designed to promote interactions between the teams, and it goes in line with Egypt’s sole priority regarding education. All of the funds that were raised will go towards girls’ vocational education; to help them learn fundamental business aspects and thereby support their own career development.

Following the two-phase race, the achievements of all participants were recognized at the closing celebration, medals were handed out to the winning teams, and finally, a speech was given by Head of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility of Orange Egypt, Hala Abdel Wadood, where she expressed her pride in sponsoring the Red Corporate Race for the second year in a row.

“Our support for this race is a key element in our efforts to support sustainable social development in Egypt and copes with the efforts and strategy of Orange that support Women’s Empowerment and Education. We always strive to endorse advanced education and improve the working environment in the Egyptian society.” Hala added.

She also stated: “Orange always seeks to cooperate and partner with leading associations like Injaz Egypt and Red Rock to help us in reaching our goal and raise the needed funds to the education of Egyptian girls.”

Finally, at the end of the event, during a speech that was given by Hala Abdel Wadood, she handed Ms. Dina El Mofty, CEO of Injaz, the one million EGP cheque. Also, a final word was given by one of the ambitious girls who was being supported by this amazing program.

WE SAID THIS: “I believe in the power of togetherness. Let’s come together for a cause that is bigger than us.” Nader Maurice, CEO, Red Rock International
