Beyond the Marge Simpson Lookalike: All the Times Egypt Appeared On The Simpsons

Known as one of the longest-running shows in the world, the dysfunctional yellow family of the Simpsons somehow hasn’t just graced our screens but also managed to seep into Egyptian history. It turns out that recently, archeologists were able to find a Marge Simpson lookalike on a 3000-year-old Egyptian coffin.

On the coffin is a picture of a woman in green clothes with a high hairstyle and blue hair, a lookalike of Marge. These coffins, in particular, were from the New Kingdom and were known to boast intricate designs.

The uncanny resemblance to the cartoon character got a lot of people talking, with many saying that this time, “Egypt predicted the Simpsons,” unlike how the Simpsons are known to predict many major events.

Jokes aside, we all know it isn’t actually Marge, but let us keep the fun going by remembering all the times Egypt made an appearance on the Simpsons:

Lisa & The Orb Of Isis

Egypt’s appearance on the Simpsons doesn’t mean we’ll get to see its modern culture and way of life. Instead, the show focuses a lot on ancient Egypt.

In season 9, we saw Lisa showcase a relatable fascination with ancient Egyptian artifacts. Throughout the episode, she went out of her way to the Springsonian Museum to meet the Orb of Isis.

Being the Simpsons, it didn’t turn out to be an orb at all but a music box that was overlooked by scientists and museum staff.

    Golf Ala Sphinx

Many lovers of Ancient Egypt dream of snapping a picture while kissing the Sphinx. It is one of the most famous monuments from ancient civilization, and that is why it had to appear on the show. The thing is, because it is the Simpsons, they had to add their touch of crazy.

In the sixth episode of Season 2, when the family decides to go play mini golf, one of the many courses is a recreation of the Sphinx but with the face of a dopey Simpson. There are also zig zagging mini pyramids that lead up to the Sphinx.

Freeing Slaves From King Ramses II

Things get more interesting when the Simpsons decide to dive into the world of slavery and the ruling kings of Egypt. Taking on the role of King Ramses II was none other than the principal of Springfield Elementary School, Skinner. Moses was played by Millhouse, and Miriam by Lisa.

In the episode, we watch an angry Moses and Miriam demanding Skinner to let their people go. What follows are several failed plagues and an escape from a Pyramid prison, which end with Moses and Miriam taking their people across the parting sea.

Guess how they parted the sea, though? By flushing all the toilets in Egypt. Yes, you heard that right! This show really doesn’t hold anything back when it comes to hilariously parodying life’s events.

Now you know how much the Simpsons and Egypt have crisscrossed over the years. Here’s hoping that in the future, they try to include some references to our current modern-day Egypt, including its delicious molokhia.
