Art isn’t meant to be confined to four walls—at least, that’s what SINDBAD Collective believes. This year, the group reimagined how people experience art by turning highways into exhibition spaces. With their mobile showcase, SINDBAD: On the Road!, they brought creativity directly to the streets, stopping in cities across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain!
A Journey Beyond Borders
This year’s edition of “SINDBAD: On the Road!” is more than a showcase; it’s a cultural journey. As the exhibition made its way through Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, it transformed public spaces into evolving galleries.
But it wasn’t just about displaying works—it was about interaction. Artists and audiences engaged in real-time, exchanging stories and perspectives. Plus, the exhibit’s modular design allowed it to fit into different settings, from city squares to open landscapes, making every stop a unique experience.
Art Without Walls: A New Way to Engage
Unlike traditional galleries, SINDBAD’s exhibition had no fixed structure. Artists could submit their work on the spot, turning the project into a living, breathing display of creativity. This open-call approach welcomed painters, sculptors, photographers, and digital artists, ensuring a diverse range of artistic voices.
By removing barriers like submission fees and selection committees, SINDBAD redefined accessibility in the art world. This shift made it easier for both emerging and established artists to share their work with the public.
SINDBAD Radio: Art Meets Sound
Beyond visual art, SINDBAD Radio became a key part of the project, broadcasting interviews, live updates, and curated music to accompany the traveling exhibition. Through this platform, audiences could tune in to artist conversations and behind-the-scenes moments, even if they weren’t physically there.
The Road Ahead
SINDBAD’s journey is far from over. On February 20, the collective will hold a final exhibition in Jeddah, bringing together works gathered throughout their travels. On top of that, they’re set to participate in AlUla’s N.E.S.T. Book Launch!
What began as a road trip has grown into a movement, proving that art thrives where people gather.
