When it comes to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its relevance in our work or life generally, it’s hard to think of an appropriate definition. AI can help in many different ways, from boosting small scale companies to the vastness of a country’s economy. AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving. Many countries now such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia are integrating artificial intelligence solutions into several goals including consumer complaints and energy.
Francois Chollet, AI researcher at Google and creator of the machine-learning software library Keras, stated that intelligence is tied to a system’s ability in adapting and improvising in a new environment. This is done in order to generalize its knowledge and apply it accordingly to unfamiliar scenarios. “Intelligence is the efficiency with which you acquire new skills at tasks you didn’t previously prepare for,” Chollet said, adding that “intelligence is not skill itself, it’s not what you can do, it’s how well and how efficiently you can learn new things.” Now scroll down to find out more!
Dubai
Thanks to the development of AI, Dubai Economy’s Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector can now resolve consumer complaints in mere minutes rather than four days in previous conditions. Dubai Economy has launched an upgraded version of its Smart Protection, a first-of-its-kind service introduced in April 2018 to resolve consumer complaints faster with the help of artificial intelligence. The service solely relies on AI and does not include any human interference. CCCP has resolved more than 2,000 consumer complaints through the service since its launch.
How and What
Ahmed Al Zaabi, the Director of Consumer Protection in Dubai Economy says the services that are offered by the newly upgraded version of Smart Protection reflects Dubai Economy’s priorities. The objective is to continue enhancing the customer experience in the emirate and to further harness state-of-the-art technologies. Smart Protection’s upgraded version uses AI to respond to the consumer with a Solution Letter immediately once a complaint has been submitted. Consumers can then go to the store with their Solution Letter where their complaint is resolved and settled.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has been wanting to improve its ranks on the world stage regarding international data and AI indicators. As a result, they formed a new AI center for energy which was inaugurated with Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman signing an MoU between the Saudi Ministry of Energy and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority. The creation of the Artificial Intelligence Center for Energy will help to promote AI research, improve developmental efforts, support innovation, and enable entrepreneurship.
Objectives
The center will be focusing on four strategic objectives. Promoting national energy goals and developing AI to benefit knowledge are two of these aims. The third and fourth targets are in accumulating experiences in the field of energy, and leading in the AI aspect of the Kingdom’s energy-related strategic partnerships.
