We Egyptians tend do get ourselves trapped within the same old, boring routine, then do nothing but complain about how there is nothing new to do in this country. But the truth is, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Thursdays at Cairo Jazz Club, Fridays at Funk N Pop, Saturday at Ovio for brunch then repeat!

But this stops now, our city has so much to give us, we just don’t know where to look, until now, when we actually stopped procrastifuckingnating and actually looked so none of y’all can complain no more. We give you the best adventures to have in Cairo.

    Find God in Coptic Cairo

Ditch your car, take the metro and stop at the Margirgis station and explore your city’s own little Coptic town. From The Hanging Church to baladi coffee shops, the city’s biggest cultural haven Darb 1718 and more. There’s no shortage of things to do on that side of town.

Go on a culinary tour around the world in Maadi

Maadi is one of the few places in Cairo where you can literally have food from all over the world without packing a suitcase. There’s Greek (The Greek), Indian (Maharani), Filipino (Pinoy), Korean (Gaya), Tabla Luna (Latin American), Ethiopian (Celebrities) and more. Bel hana wel shefa!

Travel back in time to when the British ruled Egypt at Windsor Hotel

Idiot Abroad’s very own Karl Pilkington stayed at this hotel as he shot his iconic travel documentary! Not only that, the actual bar is rich with history as it was a British army bar back when we were occupied. Our favorite part about this place is its staff as the bar has the eldest bartender in Egyptian history. He’s currently in his sixties, has a novel written about him called El Bar Man and the guy himself has so many stories to tell you. Make sure to make some time for yourself, head there for a few drinks and have a chat with him.

Shop like an Egyptian at Suq El Attaba

From clothes to bed sheets, flip flops and anything you could ever want, you will find it at Suq El Attaba. Be prepared for sights, sounds, smells and crowds, but don’t be afraid to simply dive in and get lost.

    Camping at Wadi Degla Protectorate

    wadi

When was the last time you ever camped in the city? Exactly! Gather your friends and head to Wadi Degla and lie on the ground and stare at the beautiful stars away from all the city’s light pollution.

    Barhopping Downtown Cairo

From El Horreya to Happy City, Odeon Palace, Cafe Riche and more, getting schwasted Downtown is definitely an experience that you must have.

Found in a box of bananas from the Philippines on the River Nile at an early age, Kurt is born to a Filipino mother and an Egyptian father which means emotionally he is completely screwed. Kurt is a bubbling cauldron of masculinity aside from his girly hair, camp voice and passion for One Direction.
