The renowned Ultra Music Festival is scheduled to make its way to Abu Dhabi for the first time in the Middle East on March 4 to 5, taking place in Etihad Park. The annual outdoor electronic music festival was first held in Miami, Florida in March, but it has since traveled to the likes of Croatia, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia—and is currently taking place in the UAE. The concept for Ultra in the Middle East has been in the works for a while as the famous festival brand had planned to host the festival in Abu Dhabi in the first half of 2020 where Major Lazer and Zedd were due to headline, but the pandemic prevented that from happening.
In addition to Skrillex, who has eight Grammy Awards to his credit (more than any other electronic dance music artist), Dutch DJ Afrojack, Grammy-nominated Calvin Harris, ILLENIUM, KSHMR, and NGHTMR will all be present this year. The festival will also host underground techno and house musicians like Swedish techno titan Adam Beyer, alongside Amelie Lens and John Digweed. Tickets are now available, with day passes starting at Dh315 and weekend passes at Dh420.
While the Abu Dhabi event marks the Ultra music festival’s debut in the Middle East, the brand made a pop-up appearance as part of the 2017 Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix. The after-race performance featured DJs Carl Cox and Nic Fanciulli. Along with Ultra Music Festival, the UK’s biggest, loudest and craziest music festival “Wireless” is also making its way to Abu Dhabi in March 2023. The lineup will include big names like Cardi B, Jay Z, and Nicki Minaj.
