Egypt is mostly famous for two things: The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, ask any foreigner about Egypt and that is the first thing that comes to mind. But what if we told you that there are so many other beautiful places in Egypt that are even more monumental than both of these ancient artifacts.

Egyptian couple, Omar Attia and Dalia El Debaiky, with their shared Instagram account under the name: @aroundegyptin60days, has took it upon themselves to show us the forgotten beauty of the Egyptian history and culture, and so far we are loving it!

Here’s a list of photos from their travels that’ll make you view Egypt in a different light

Day 4: When ‘Art’ finds its way out of the slums’ darkest tunnels and prevails! . On our way to the Religions’ Complex in Al Fustat, Egypt’s first capital city under the Muslim ruling, built by Amr Ibn El Aas, Dalia and I stumbled upon a beautiful arts village amidst old alleys and slums called “Al Fakhareen Village” designed to support local handcrafted talents! . “Tourists’ agencies diverted their sightseeing routes and no longer bring tourists here; and locals unfortunately either look down upon local talent and prefer to brag about buying expensive imported products or no longer appreciate art” – Farouk, an old pottery maker in this village claimed. . After roaming the entire village and talking with the craftsmen there, Dalia and I insisted on supporting them and bought 2 plantation pots, 4 cooking clay pots and 3 miniature clay statues to place in our kitchen! 🙂 ↔️Swipe for more photos 🙂 . Go support local handcrafted talent and craftsmen barely surviving to make a living there. Kindly share this post among your friends and family 🙂 . Day 48: Is there anything more beautiful?!! . More of a painting than a photo, exploding with colours, Dalia and I spent half of this day just trying to absorb the alluring beauty of this scenery! 🙂 . More breathtaking photos of magical Aswan in our book soon.. Stay tuned 🙂 . Day 13: I’ve always wanted to go Venice!!! . The idea of touring a city with houses built on water canals without roads; and boats are the only way to commute, has been dreamy and always tickled my mind! . Never in the world would I have imagined that we have our own Venice here in Egypt though, until today! More shabby, yet exploding with culture, colors and stories to tell, this fishing village in El Mexx, in Alexandria is truly a fascinating, hidden gem! 🙂 . Stay tuned for Dalia and I’s full story and more photos of our boat tour in El Mexx and home visits to the fishermen living there 🙂 . Day 25: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all!” – Oscar Wilde. . Honestly, I never thought I’d be captivated by a desert safari adventure, but ditching 5 star hotels to camp in a 5 billion star tent at Egypt’s Western Desert, looking up to this view, never made me feel more alive!! ? . Far away from bright city lights and any form of connectivity was very liberating; and as much as gazing at stars, meteors, comets and our milky way the entire night swallowed me whole, making me feel like I’m minutely atomic, it has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and has asserted my existentialism on this planet! . Stay tuned for more stories and photos of the most exhilarating night spent throughout our journey around Egypt! ⛺ . Note: This background is NOT photoshopped.. the photo is 100% real.. only minor increase in contrast, brightness and colour toning 🙂 . Day 41: The farther you go down South, the less you’re consumed and swallowed by the capital’s cosmopolitan pond and the more beauty you see of stretched palm trees on the sides of the Nile and its tributaries. A true primitive splendour 🙂 . Stay tuned for our book entailing our train stories heading to Asiyut. . . Day 40: Today I did the dumbest yet coolest road trip ever in Egypt! Today, I decided to wake up at dawn and drive for 5 hours straight to Taba just to witness the 1,000 year old colossal Fortress of Salah El Din on Pharaoh’s Island on our national borders, along with other hidden gems, and drive back home for another 5 hours on the same day! 10 hours of pure awesomeness!! . At the fort, it was pretty amazing how my phone picked up the network signals and received welcome messages from 3 other different countries at one focal point: Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Occupied Palestine! . Stay tuned for our book to narrate my road trip adventure, the ferry ride to the citadel to explain its history and showcase its architecture and my visit to Taba’s city and its beautiful coastal bays 🙂 . Day 51: Today was a major adrenaline rushed activity ticked off my bucket list.. today I glided over the Red Sea at El Gouna!! . Unbelievable bird’s eye view of corals, manta rays, large fish and lavish yachts in the horizon. Can’t wait to tell you more stories about this particular experience in our book!! 🙂 . 🙂 . Ironically, Dalia and I’s story in discovering Egypt paralleled exactly our story in discovering our relationship’s evolution! . Our engagement phase wasn’t solely confined to the typical candle light dinner dates, it involved a lot of touring around our city’s beautiful touristic attractions as well. . We intentionally wanted to break the ice of faked intimacy over the clichéd candle lit dinner tables and discover our true identities through touring our country instead! Eventually we fell in love with one another and fell more in love with our country too. True story! . Therefore, we deliberately chose to celebrate all our official ceremonies (engagement, wedding contract signing and wedding ceremony) in iconic touristic attractions to be eyewitnesses in crowning our relationship’s evolution 🙂 .
