Okay so, you probably don’t wanna know anything about me, but I don’t really care. I’m originally from Fayoum but I moved to Cairo a few years ago. It all has been a great experience and all of that, but the one thing I miss about home is my mother’s cooking; her ma7shi especially. My cooking skills are, well, let me just say that they’re not as good as beta3et mama.
But if there’s one thing all these years of living alone taught me, it’s that you have to fend for yourself, which is exactly what I did. I’ve rounded up a list of the best places in Cairo to get ma7shi from that is as good as your mama…at least at little bit close to it.

I’m not the biggest fan of wara2 3enab. I prefer other types of ma7shis, but Abou El Sid’s wara2 3enab game is on point.

Om Hassan
Yes, everyone gives Om Hassan shit because of their alleged donkey meat fedi7a, and I genuinely do not care about all of that. Their molokheya is amazing, their lesa asfour soup is amazing…wait, sorry! I forgot I was here for ma7shi. Okay so, Om Hassan’s mix ma7shi is to die for. Please try it today. Yalla!
Baheya
The only place in Cairo where you get some good cabbage ma7shi.
Kabab Shaker
Much like Menoufy, Kabab Shaker will be there for you when you’re broke.
Cairo Kitchen
Yes, Cairo Kitchen could be pretentious showeya (more like keteer), but if it’s payday and you’re feeling a little spendy and fancy AF, you should definitely treat yourself with some ma7shi from Cairo Kitchen.
El Sit Hosneya
I’m not actually sure if all the food at El Sit Hosneya is actually cooked by her, but so far from what I’ve ordered, it has always been consistent. Much like her kousa ma7shi. #nomnomnom
