Burger Factory 2012 – Worth The Wait

A good burger is hard to find in this day and age. With shows like ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ hosted by Chef Guy Fieri on the food network you are usually stuck thinking to yourself I wish I was his friend.

Getting back to the point, a good burger is a hard find so I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I stumbled upon a new burger joint in the quint town of Zamalek.

Dragging 4 of my dearest we waited in line.. Yes line… To try out the new messy delight that has been dubbed the ‘Burger Factory’. The venue is located off of 26th of July st. a small outlet catering to no more then 3 small tables with an added forth one on the side that holds a larger party of 7. As mentioned there is a line and has been every time I have passed by, but the staff is very friendly and will usually take your order while you stand outside and they are prepping another table with their bill.

Burger Factory, has an array of graffiti like artwork displayed on both the outside and inside of the venue, where the so called ‘burger revolution’ kind of takes over the raw feel given in the place.

We started with an order of onion rings, probably some of the best I have ever tried, perfectly crunchy yet not too flaky that they fall apart with your first bite, not too heavy and consistent throughout. We got the barbeque dip to go with, but they were so good I actually didn’t even feel the need and ate them on their own.

Being the salad freak that I am, I also ordered the Ceaser Salad, well priced at around 15 LE a bowl and easily shared between a couple people as a starter. Made with a homemade touch to it, the dish leaves you wanting more, knowing you will definitely come back even if it is for this dish alone. With the perfect balance of all ingredients I genuinely recommend this as one of the best salads in town.

Now for the good stuff, the crew ordered an array of different burgers, myself having the ‘Swiss’ which is compiled of Swiss cheese, caramelized onions and garlic mayo. The burger is moderately sized for the price being 40LE but filling none the less, with a large side order of fries that accompanies all burgers one is easily satisfied by the meal.

Served on a metal tray with branding splurged all over the place, the trays took over the small table with a little issue in space but being the troupers we are,  we made it through and had it sorted in no time.

All burgers are served in butter buns insinuating that soft, home made, messy feel, but being the perfect combination with the well sized beef patty and generous amount of condiments. Although the burger is not necessarily cheap. I can definitely admit that the quality is without a doubt worth the extra 10L.E you would pay at any fast food chain and is perfectly comparable to any of new fine dining burger joints that have popped up in 2012.

There is an array of adventurous choices on the menu for those of you looking for something different such as the ‘Frenchman’, where you can expect the combination of blue cheese, beef bacon, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce and garlic mayo. Although I was more then satisfied at this point, this was an adventure after all and so we then ordered the ‘Sushi’ burger just to spice things up.

Considering the fact it was the first time I had seen such a combination we ordered one for the ‘middle’. The Sushi burger is a mash up of Philadelphia cheese, pickled ginger, lettuce and a mix of wasabi and spicy mayo. Taking the first bite you definitely get that hint of sushi like flavor with the spike of wasabi mayo and ginger that instantly cools it off. Definitely an acquired taste, but recommended for any foodies out there looking to try something different.

Last but not least dessert! No meal should end on a sour note, therefore dessert should always accounted for and definitely part of the plan. In this case we ordered the ‘Chocolate Fondant’ priced at 30LE, and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled caramel lovin, this dish was destroyed in a matter of seconds. Easily shared between a couple people especially after the kind of meal mentioned, we also recommend the ‘Upside Down Apple Pie’ that although we did not get the chance to try looked absolutely delicious.

It is without precedent that the burger joints of Cairo have competition with this new joint, with consistency of quality throughout the entire meal and although being a little pricey, you leave satisfied having had a 3 course meal for under 100LE per person.

WE SAID THIS: We Strongly Recommend To All Those Looking For A Good Eat, Nominating The Place As The Perfect Hangover Meal & If Anything Worth The Wait. Bravo!
