We all know that when it comes to indecent acts, exposure and drug paraphernalia Dubai does not mess around. In the latest string of issues arising in the UAE for expatriates, three British men have claimed they were tortured after being imprisoned for possession of a Cannabis like substitute.
Grant Cameron, Karl Williams, and Suneet Jeerh were arrested 7 months ago, in Dubai while they were on holiday in the country, they all claim they were beaten and forced to sign documents in Arabic ( a language none of them speak) claiming they had illegal substances on themselves.
In his testimony to a lawyer, Mr Williams claims that he was tortured in a hotel room. He said a towel was placed over his face so that he could not see.
“They kept telling me I was going to die. I was so scared,” he said. “Once I had been knocked to the ground, the police picked me up and put me on the bed. They pulled down my trousers, spread my legs and started to electrocute my testicles. It was unbelievably painful.” After the electric shocks were administered, Mr Williams claims that a gun was pointed at his head. “All I could think was that the gun in my face could go off if the policeman slipped, and it would kill me. I started to believe that I was going to die in that room,” he said.
The UAE police claim that all these accusations are untrue and the men have only be detained until their sentence comes out.
We Said This: We don’t know how true the story is, but it looks like if the severity of the UAE governments crackdown on foreigners does not become a bit more lax, they may start losing tourism.
