Bollywood lovers – or, should I say, 70s and 80s kids – something incredibly glorious has happened today that I am actually banging at the keyboard with enthusiasm instead of typing like a normal person. Our childhood hero and Indian megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, is in Cairo this week.
For those who haven’t been graced by a Bollywood childhood, your life will forever be incomplete and there is nothing your parents or any therapist can do about it. Indian movies were the ultimate adrenaline rush.
They had dancing, colorful saris, romantic taboos, explosions, heroes jumping from planes and live, a dialogue with a mix of English and Arabic words that helped you understand the whole movie without even knowing the language and people with good hair that never got frizzy.
That being said, we need to discuss the fact that Bollywood’s Zeus is here to be a guest of honor at the “India by the Nile” festival and how this can boost tourism. I expect nothing from the Indian God but the best theatrics I will ever witness on a mundane Cairo week.

Of course we can’t have him spending the day with a dry tongue after a feast of foul and ta3meya! He must drink from our Nile and make a scene out of it
Now that he is well fed, why not take a Felucca Nile cruise and recreate his famous ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ love scene
Then suddenly, for no reason, he starts dancing in El-Moez and naturally the backup dancers will magically appear like any Indian movie
Under a sky full of stars and the pyramids by his side, he will reminisce about one of his renowned movie’s finale speeches and remind us how he got shot with 10 bullets and never got a scratch because love’s magic is real
Then end his trip with the perfect selfie with our president Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi before going back to Bollywood land
