With the Met Gala happening tonight, it’s the perfect excuse to scroll through some iconic moments where Lebanese designers completely ate. From Rihanna’s poetic debut to Jasmine Tookes’ emerald glam, these looks are giving timeless, dramatic, and a whole lotta sparkle.

Let’s dive into some fave Met Gala moments that prove Lebanese designers have been serving couture on the steps of the Met for years now.

    Rihanna – Georges Chakra (2007)

Before she became the Met Gala queen, the singer Rihanna made her very first appearance in 2007 wearing a dreamy white Georges Chakra gown.

The plunging neckline, sheer flowy fabric, and crystal detail brought that soft, romantic vibe to the theme “Poiret: King of Fashion”. But the twist? Black knit gloves and a single red rose in hand. So simple, so dramatic.

Hilary Duff – Elie Saab (2008)

Actress-singer Hilary Duff’s Met Gala debut in 2008? Totally underrated. The “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” theme could’ve gone loud, but she kept it sleek in a strapless, silver Elie Saab gown.

Metallic, sculpted, and elegant. It was giving silver screen siren meets superhero chic.

Jennifer Lopez – Zuhair Murad (2010)

Actress and singer, J.Lo, and the designer Zuhair Murad are a match made in couture heaven. Her 2010 look was actually the first time she wore the Lebanese designer.

The theme was “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity”, and she stepped out in an embellished grey gown that was all kinds of ethereal.

The love she holds for Zuhair Murad is still alive and well; she has even revealed that “he’s probably my favorite”.

Jasmine Tookes – Zuhair Murad (2022)

Former Victoria’s Secret Angel and supermodel, Jasmine Tookes, showed up to the 2022 Met Gala looking like literal royalty in an emerald green Zuhair Murad gown. Draped, dramatic, and super luxe, it nailed the “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” theme.

She’s a loyal Murad muse; she even wore him for her wedding dress, and this look just proved again why that pairing never misses.

Camila Morrone – Elie Saab (2019)

The actress-model Camila Morrone served soft glam with a twist for 2019’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme. Her Elie Saab gown was pink with asymmetric draping, silver heels, and a mesh veil moment. It was giving vintage romance. Chic, but still fun.

From silver goddesses to soft glam queens, Lebanese designers have consistently brought artistry and drama to the Met Gala carpet. Whether it’s Elie Saab’s sculptural elegance or Zuhair Murad’s signature sparkle, these looks prove one thing: the Lebanese fashion scene always shows up and shows out.

And with the Met Gala happening tonight, we can’t wait to see how they raise the bar yet again.

Malak cannot seem to get enough of Literature - so much so that she has pursued it in both her BA and MA, and the love affair is still going strong. Aside from her love for words, humans generally fascinate her. She spends a lot of her time analyzing the minds of people around her and watching criminal minds. She is still fairly new in adulthood, and until now, nothing has made sense in life but chocolate.
