The Sudan Tribune reports that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have advanced into southeastern Khartoum, reaching the Al-Aylafun area as part of an ongoing military operation. This follows a series of gains in Al-Jazirah State, where SAF regained control of multiple towns and villages.

The SAF is positioning forces around the East Nile area, a key location controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with reports indicating preparations for further maneuvers in the capital.

During recent clashes east of the Nile, Major General Abdullah Hussein, the RSF’s commander in Al-Jazirah State, was killed. The SAF continues its advance from the south toward Al-Kamlin, having secured several strategic locations in Al-Hasaheisa and Al-Kamlin localities.

This comes after the SAF regained control of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazirah State, and reopened access to Sudan’s largest oil refinery in Jili around mid-January.

In a related development, Reuters reported that an airstrike on a hospital in Omdurman resulted in at least six fatalities and 38 injuries.

The international community continues to call for de-escalation and a resolution that prioritizes civilian safety and stability.

SAF Military Advancements Toward Central Khartoum

As the SAF moves closer to central Khartoum, analysts suggest that the current operations could lead to intensified engagements in key districts. The strategic positioning of forces in East Nile and surrounding areas may influence future developments in the capital.

While military operations continue, civilians remain at the center of the humanitarian response, with aid groups urging immediate measures to ensure their protection and well-being.
